I love/hate microcenter

There are a couple of places that I can’t go in to without spending way, way more money than I should. I’ll go in for one thing, then talk myself in to spending 10 times the amount I planned on things I don’t really need. One is Home Depot, the other is Microcenter.

Did your microcenter also switch the b650p pro to the tomahawk in the bundle?

Hey! I got my 7800X3D from microcenter a few weeks ago! Just wanted to leave you with some tips to get you started if you havent run into some issues thus far.

Heads up on AM5 DDR5 ram. Make sure you test this thoroughly and hope this can help you since ymmv: turn on Memory Context Restore and have DRAM PowerDown setting to auto. It makes booting into windows drastically quicker due to memory re-retraining every time it tries to boot from shutdown.

Other BIOS settings to play with that may help:

LoadLine Calibration and SOC LoadLine Calibration should be whatever setting you can get it to be with stable voltage ramping behavior (i have mine on level 3 for both).

DISABLE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS!! I cant stress this enough, some sofware (mostly steam in my experience) can act abnormally because it tries to use your iGPU for some reason even if youre plugged into your Dedicated GPU.

    PBO Settings (ymmv):

I was able to get my Curve Optimizer to go as low as per core -28 and -5 for my fastest cores with an 88W PPT Limit, 105 for both EDC and TDC. I also have a thermal limit of 94c, but it wont really ever hit that temp since I think 7800X3D already has a hard limit to 90c.

Make sure you set PBO Settings in Advanced CPU Configuration in the Main OC Page where you see your RAM settings, not advanced settings.

Do what you will with this information, and happy gaming my friend!!

I wish we had one here. I had to pay for an overpriced motherboard at Best Buy because I couldn’t wait for a delivery or I’d of missed a day of work (WFH). They recently opened the first one in my state in I think Charlotte so hopefully a few years down the line maybe they’ll pop up in other major cities but I’m not getting my hopes up lol.
