Saw this on amazon and have a good portion of money left after Christmas, just need something cheap to play a few games (Skyrim Starfield mainly) 300 for this, but it says no OS, can I still use this or do I have to fork out more for one

This won’t run Starfield and Skyrim will work but you might need to adjust your setting because this PC is running only integrated GPU. To run Starfield you need dedicated GPU so that’s additional cost you’ll need to put into the PC

It also mentions only having HDD so if it’s indeed mechanical drive you also need to add SSD into the PC for Windows and even some games that require fast storage to run well.

8GB of RAM is not enough for gaming so you’ll need to add another stick of RAM ideally matching so you don’t kill whatever performance the 4600G has by having single channel RAM.

To sum it up. It’s usable base but you’ll need to add another 400-500$ before thinking running Starfield on this and I don’t think it’s worth it.

I would suggest either looking into used market to see if you can find something with Ryzen 5 3600 and maybe 2060/2070/Radeon 5600 in your price range or just buy like PS5 or Xbox.

Don’t buy this. It has an integrated GPU. You won’t be able to play games normally. Instead, buy a used PC or components and build yourself (not difficult). For 300-400, you can get a ryzen 3600, b450 motherboard, 16gb ram at 3200, Rx 5700xt or GTX 1080, 600w psu, 1tb sad and case. You even have a good upgrade path, b450 can take a ryzen 5800x3d.

  3. Absolutely do not buy this for gaming unless you plan on upgrading the CPU and GPU. If not, save up a little bit more for better specs. And yes, you’ll need to purchase an OS license as well, unless it’s already activated in the bios.
