
I’m having trouble trying to OC my i5-12600k without getting crazy temps during cpu stress test and I need advise on this one.
Here are the following results and values:

Tried undervolting it to 1.275V and 4.8Ghz, basically same results on temp.
Changed thermal paste + position from cooler which was facing down.
**Specs**:
CPU: I5-12600K
Motherboard: Z690 UD Gigabyte
CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-U9S chromax black
What should I do? what’s wrong here?

Why not invest in a better cooler
Probably in part because you’re using a dynamic vcore. I always use static.
You’re using ~45w more power, which means higher temperatures. Especially so considering your baseline was ~115w and how you have the OC it’s using ~160w. That’s about 40% more power draw from your CPU, it’s going to run hotter.
1. 86c being the highest temp on a P core isn’t bad
2. What were you expecting with a small cooler like the U9S?
