They are never going to tell you what you want or expect to hear. They are never going to say “your matches will be sweaty forever” they will always evade with “we’re constantly tweaking to adjust and give our players the greatest level of player engagement and enjoyment possible.”

  2. everlasted

Never seen so many words that mean so little.

  3. SalsaGGG

They literally didn’t say anything. It looks like chat gpt pulled all its info from reddit for this statement.

  4. Okay so they have 3 teams working on match making for over 10 years… yet they can’t put together in words what it all means. Lolz.

    Okay.

  5. ThePopcornDude

It’s pretty funny that they are pretending that the matchmaking algorithm actually puts latency and search time into account when that simply isn’t the case

If you just want to have fun for 2 hours once in a while, and don’t spend a dime on skins, guns or camo, we will feed you to the sweats. Have a nice day.

Oh man, forgot I was in the cod sub and thought I was reading a statement from the blizzard team. Gotta love word soup that has no substance at all.

    Sooooo?????

CoD will never die…..but the player base is amputated and armless after last years title. Even as someone who stopped playing it’s surprising me how bad MW3 is doing across the board. They really turned people off with MW2….the game that killed all the fun stuff we all loved in CoD….and now thats shrunk the player base big time.

  10. They really didn’t say anything but we shall see soon. But the primary issue in MWIII has still yet to be addressed….that being the absolutely awful hit reg and netcode. I’d like to hear that they are investing in better servers and such because the current ones clearly can’t keep up with the fast paced action of MWIII.

They definitely need some tweaking on SBMM though. It’s currently too punishing. I don’t mind being matched based on skill but they have to refine the system.

JUST REMOVE SBMM BRO! If I want sweaty lobbies i will go ranked play!

  12. Yellowtoblerone

The fact that they’re even addressing it means that they’re seeing huge drop off from the current Iteration of sbmm/eomm. Otherwise there’d be no need to even trying to appease the playerbase rn

  13. psychozamotazoa

The fact that this is one of the only times they’ve ever had community statements is a great start. Let’s see if they actually pull through with something thorough

this sub will complain about literally anything, this is more communication on the topic than we’ve ever had, and it’s clear they have more to talk about.

so after christmas then. how is a +100ms ping good for gameplay? i’ve refunded mw3. Having to play like a god *all the time* in order to *maybe* win just isnt any fun. i barely have a 1kdr, but like 0.14 w/l. it’s fuckint stupid.

There’s quite a bit of information in their sbmm patents and shareholder statements. Most gamers don’t want to sift through large documents like that though, I did it once not going to do it again but it’s an interesting insight into how sbmm generates them more revenue by drip feeding dopamine hits

  17. What if on the off chance, there’s less bad players than good players in the world…

  18. AVMADEVS

The players insights team won’t be interrogated, believe me. (their mission being “money” through EOMM tweaks)

  19. /u/weaver787

Damn what was that about it being a conspiracy??

    You bellend

  20. zanderzander

Interesting phrasing of what their matchmaker considers.

    >”….our approach combines latency, search time, and skill, **along with many other factors**,….

Latency and Skill are the two factors that dictate the fairness of a match – so SBMM would only care for that. Matchmaking time is a consideration for pragmatic reasons that deviates from finding fair matches for the sake of finding a match at all.

So we are left with what could these “other” be…. (EOMM).

  21. Stalin_be_Wallin

Havent they said similar nonsense for previous titles?

  22. wicked_one_at

10 years a waste it seems,… if I would believe what is written

  23. devon223

Without sbmm, low skilled people would quit. With sbmm low skilled people keep playing and better people just complain on reddit they can’t pub stomp but they keep playing. Win win for all except for the people like myself who don’t care and have to filter thru 10 sbmm posts a day. 🤷

The matchmaking just pushed me away again. I’m tired of having to lean forwards and work hard each match to just stand a chance of going positive. I play video games to relax and have fun. I’d ideally like to be sat back and just be able to enjoy my time. Sure, means sometimes I do the steam rolling, but sometimes I get steam rolled. I had zero issues with that back in the day. It just drains the fun out of it where every lobby is sweats.

Years of development on a system no one really asked for, and it pushes players away and drains people.

If they’re going to give me sweaty lobbies fine. But give me competent players on my team as well.

  26. Unbelievabro

Oh sick, more avoiding the issue.

If SBMM actually worked it might not be so bad but it’s always been absolute garbage.
