There are cases that use acrylic. It scratches very easily.

We used to use acrylic before the tempered glass fad.
Polycarbonate (Lexan) can scratch more so than even Acrylic. Its more expensive and not as transparent.

I’d rather have glass.
CurlSagan
But if the glass doesn’t occasionally shatter, how will manufacturers sell you a new case every few years?

Static as well

Glass is shit. Go back to acrylic. It looks the same as glass (yes it does, don’t argue about it) and doesn’t explode when you look at it the wrong way. Why people started using glass I’ll never understand. “It doesn’t scratch” great. Does your monitor scratch? It’s not glass. So how are you avoiding scratching your monitor? Treat your case the same way. Maybe stop rubbing sandpaper and razor blades against your case windows and you won’t need to care about scratches.

You want scratches? Because that’s how you get scratches. It was awful with acrylic. You could barely even wipe it down with a microfiber towel and you’d still get scratches it was absolutely awful.
slayez06
It scratches and breaks down and cracks from the sun.

Because they’re trash 😂

I just reuse an ancient dell case, that really shitty one that opened like a book and never closed again right after you opened it.
If I ever get robbed, they’re not likely to steal something that shitty looking

Ugh I remember the days of polycarbonate windowed cases. They looked absolutely terrible lol. When glass side panels started to become mainstream, I couldn’t wait to upgrade my case. Shattered side panels aren’t nearly as common as people think. We just happen to see the more on here.

Because they suck. If you aren’t an idiot glass panels are fine

Tempered glass is finde. The people destroying it are not.

Scratches?
What the fuck do you people do to your PC? Mine sits on my desk untouched for months at a time.
Maybe don’t fuck with your PC with sand paper gloves on, I don’t know.

Why do we even need transparent side cases? It’s hard to find a case without one. I build PCs to do stuff, not be there to look at it.
Kjellvb1979
We’ve been there and done that.
What would be nice is some “transparent aluminium”
Honestly, I don’t know if that’s a viable option, I’m sure the cost comes into play, but I’m not even sure it would be a good replacement for glass on PC cases. Just like pointing out that it exists, thanks to Scotty.

Because PC cases made of PC would be confusing.
