Went from a 1080 to a 4070 and didn’t need to change a single component or cable, I’m over the moon.

Some back story, I didn’t use this GPU for 7 years but I got it August 2020 (perfect time) and from a guy who had been running it for 4 years. I got another 3 out of it and am finally upgrading to a brand new card. I was very tempted to grab a used 3080 but logistically it was giving me issues as I’m using a 650W PSU.

My system is a r5 3600 (absolute trooper) with 16 gb of Ram (probably my next upgrade) but I’m very happy. The 1080 isn’t 100% dead but it was starting to give me issues, I will probably gift it to one of my friends who wants to play BG3. Thanks for reading, just wanted to share.

  1. The 1080 is the CHAD of video cards. Enjoy retirement bud.

A recommendation, you should upgrade that cpu, because you will have a bottleneck, I’d change that for a 5800x3D or a 5800X, but keep in mind that you won’t be having the ultimate experience because of the cpu. Good luck!

Salute. What are signs when it stops working or have problems? I had my 2070 super since 2019.

Had a friend make the same upgrade to her rig recently and she was beyond thrilled too. Enjoy!

    You got a used 1080 in 2020. .. . I’m just happy you avoided a fire hazard.

This is about to me. 1080 got me through 200 hours of Elden Ring, countless other games for several years. Might have to mount the bad boy
