I’ve got a bunch of old cases and I was thinking about doing a sleeper build, which case would you use and why?
Personally I’m leaning towards one of the two on the right end for that retro look but I’m not sure if there’s any drawbacks to the older cases?

Interested to hear what people have to say

I’d agree and double down if you can still have working disc drives for added retro fun.

  2. Robsteady

I’d probably go second from left. I’d drill out the dimples, maybe add some more. It’s still going to restrict airflow, but it’ll be the easiest to add flow too without ruining the existing aesthetic.

For *actual* camo, the one on the far left. It looks new enough that you could conceivably something from the early 2000’s in there still running.

To embrace the awful, the second from the left. That yellowing beige is hideous.

  4. EducationalCamel1043

2nd from the left. looks the oldest and crappiest

Me to random plumber at my house fixing a leak – *Yea i bet you think that PC over there is slow huh?*

Plumber – *uhh, yea i guess?*

    Me – *Ha! Idiot!*

  6. Sotsu012

2nd from the right, I’m a sucker for flip switches.

  7. DMurBOOBS-I-Dare-You

2nd from right. Li’l Shorty FTW.

  8. Narrow the choices by choosing one that follows atx standard

I have an old case kicking around I’m considering converting to a sleeper build.

  10. Number two, from the left.

The more beige and discolored, the better it will be for a sleeper. Bonus points for having all the face plates on the 5¼” bays.

  11. slymsyndicate

My first pc had the second from right.

  12. Bahamut1988

The farthest one to the right looks like a good candidate

  13. EPIC_NERD_HYPE

3rd from the right. looks the largest. parts r getting bigger.

  14. Jumpy_Spinach7962

2nd from the left. 2 disk drives 3.5” floppy and it looks like it has the turbo button.

  15. Papa_Wisdom

Second from the left or second from the right, I can’t decide

    Alternatively

2nd or 3rd from the left. Cause height and front drive bay can be used for ventilation or extra HDD/SSD storage or just for watching old CD etc..

All depends if you wanted to look at how old the pc look or what’s the most easy and compatible mounting to modern hardware

  17. whateber2

Second from the right looks perfect to me

  18. MrHeffo42

Far right. It’s still nicely Beige, and has a Turbo button.

Any with a turbo button? I would use that one

Whatever one has the least amount of proprietary crap inside of it, and has the right form factor. For a while they were doing BATX and boy when you’re not expecting it… It really throws you for a loop. “WHYS IT BACKWARDS”

  21. dillingerdiedforyou

Second to last on the right; though that might be an AT case…

  22. masterkitty2006

I’d go for that BabyAT (I think?) case second from right. I love the segment display, I’d probably try to get it working somehow.

  23. Annual_Horror_1258

2nd from the right with flip switch is the most retro of that bunch

  24. klendool

Oh god all of them rule. The one in the middle with the blue is great but also the one at the right is so retro

  25. The one all the way on the right. You would hopefully be able to make a good intake at the bottom of that front panel. Making a flip open setup for the 3.5” floppy drive bay would be handy during active gaming. I would install a BluRay optical drive.

Wow. That’s plenty of options. Whatever you choose, there’s something you should look into. They make usb hubs and hard drive shelves that fit the empty DVD slots. I should’ve used one in my first sleeper. Live and learn I guess. Butchered that poor thing more than I needed to though.

  27. herpedeederpderp

Eggshell white third from the right. Thing looks clean.

  28. keenedge422

#3. That blue panel really screams high performance gaming.

I really wanna do a sleeper with one of those really old Alienware Pcs. I just love that early 2000s aesthetic.
