So i have a random chinesse case and i have realised that when i take the front panel off the temperatures drop significally. My question is will it work the same if i cut out fan sized holes in the front to achieve the same result. Here is the picture of my case. The glass is tempered glass as far as i know. How would i cut it.With what tool

You can’t cut tempered glass without annealing it first. The bottom line is forget about this idea.

Even if you did cut the glass, your next issue is the dust that will come through the exposed holes.

Use a hair dryer to heat the glue and pop the glass out. I done the same. You can 3d print a front panel pattern to replace the glass while allowing sufficient airflow. I also sticked mesh replacement onto the front, which I bought online and had to cut myself.

If this sub has taught me anything it’s that you “just touch the side panel” and it explodes in to a million pieces. Problem solved.

If it bothers you that much then get a new case with better ventilation or leave the front panel off. Any attempts at cutting the tempered glass by you will just ruin it

Probably better to just get a new case and transfer all your components into it.

You cant cut or work on tempered glass in any way.
Anneal it first, do your work (requires some hours of experience, glass is difficult), then temper again.

just take the glass off and put a filter over it

Aside from getting a new case and since you really can’t cut tempered glass. You can always find a plastic cutting company in your area who will make a replacement out of acrylic. Then place a dust filter in between.

This was something I was going to do so, I could mount my 3080ti vertically in a 5000D case.

Basically what the other guy said here, what you need to do is just remove the glass from the front panel, but then you should also buy a mesh front and just apply it there so you prevent dust from getting in.

    Screen door screen is cheap

You are better off just removing the galas entirely and putting on a mesh on the front.

A nice sharp drill and submerge the pane of glass in water apparently works. The water displaces heat energy and acts as a shock absorber which would prevent the glass from cracking and shattering…not tried it myself but I’ve been told that it works!

Why did I read chinesse like the word finesse?

Buy cheap magnetic dust filter to replace your glass

The more I browse this sub, the more I am convinced we should have some sort of standardized testing before you take ownership of your PC.

  16. For 100$ and less time you can buy a much better case.

  17. riba2233

It is tempered so forget about it. Get a better case.

  18. ReddiStopBanningMe

you will need a glass cutter with diamond tip and some circular thing to guide

  19. ToughInjury4850

remove the glue of the glass, remove the glass, attach a mesh…

I will never understand cases with glass panels and no ventilation. What happened to mesh fronts and acrylic windows? The case can breath, the window won’t explode, and it looks exactly the same. Don’t tell me it doesn’t, yes it does.

  21. eXclurel

You can’t. Buy a cheap mesh front panel case. It will be cheaper than trying to replace the glass with mesh. I know from experience.

  22. 4ninesfine

Bring it to Michaels or a craft store that makes picture frames.

  23. SilentReavus

Just get rid of it at that point. You’re just going to break it.

  24. SlipperyClit69

If it’s tempered, you’re fucked. Can only be cut with highly specialized lasers that you won’t be able to access as a member of the general public.

  25. You dont… Listen:
You go buy plexiglas, and ask for a custom cut. Mount it on and bye.
Tempered glass is prond to shatter. Wont cut in dangerous chunks but explode in less harming particles. Thats his nature.
You are litteraly triying to drill a hole in a glass of water…what will happen?

  26. Tempered glass usually shatters when you mess with it. Removing the glass is easy so that’s sweet
