    What a difference almost doubling cores and tripling threads makes.

    Verdict: Copium.

    Still on my 2016 i7 6700k / 3070Ti FTW build, works well for the games I play. Don’t really have the $ for a new build.

    I’m running I7-8700. It’s a bit better than yours. But when looked at the new CPUs in the same category, they almost double the performance. However, I can’t justify buying new mobo, ram, cpu and pay >£600 when it actually still runs games really well.

    The only time I hit my CPU limit hard was when I was editing 1440p video.

    I used to have one and it managed to bottleneck an Rx 6600, so I would say copium.

    6 years is an eternity in tech though.

    I’ve recently swapped smartphones, because my old one was on its last legs – damaged battery and barely functional charging port, cracked screen, all that.

    Moved from Xiaomi Redmi Note 4x to Motorola Moto G84.

    Difference is difficult to even describe. Even the screen itself feels like it’s from a different era.

    I’d probably be still using my old Note 4x if it was still functional, cause all of its’ functions were still there – apart from the banking app I use, which no longer runs on its’ version of MIUI.

    I mean, the 8400f was already lower mid-end when it was relessed. So it doesn’t have the lifespan of an older higher end CPU. But that doesn’t mean you can’t play any games on it anymore.

    That’s my CPU. I also wanted to upgrade from a 1650 Super to RX 6600 but from what I saw it was a 35% bottleneck. Now I have to replace the whole system….

    I think I’ll stick to indies and older games.

    Between 2011 and 2017, Intel CPUs used to have longer lifespan… because they had zero competition from AMD, so they kept making quad-core CPUs with incremental performance uplift (even removing hyperthreading in some models at one point).

    i had a i7 2600 until march of this year, and an i5 7500 until august. they were fine. going to keep this 7700x until like 2030 or something

    I have a 3.5 year old Ryzen 7 3700X. I play mostly graphically demanding single player games at 1440p with a RTX 4070 that I bought this past summer. The only online shooter I occassionally play is CS:GO.

    I am struggling with the decision to spend 200€ Euros net (after selling my old GPU) for a 5800X3D.

    The 5700X is the more economical purchase (70€ net investment) but the 5800X3D promises long-term security and I’ll probably regret it in a year or two.

    On the other hand at 1440p the CPU speed is not that important anyway. I read all about those improved 1% lows but I am not convinced.

    Still running an Phenom II 965 quad core… She a bit old now bless her but still going strong! 😅 As well as 8gb DDR3 ram, and an m4a79xtd evo for a motherboard and a Radeon 7800 series… 😂

    I can’t play anything newer than maybe GTA V and even that isn’t looking the best.

    Yup, was gaming on An AMD a9-9420 with integrated gpu (gpu broke, was an r7 m340) til a few months ago when i got this beauty of lenovo
