Unscrew the MB without detaching anything. You didn’t install the GPU yet, should be quick and easy
LOLM3E_

Is it the same feeling of regretting not paying a bit more for a model that has a fixed bracket?
OuiAmigo
It’s 2023 and they still make motherboards without preinstalled IO shields?
Jonnyf3
Also not to be “that guy” but I would flip your fan on your cpu cooler to be a push and not a pull through the heat sync
umad_cause_ibad
Just get a slot screwdriver and gently pray back on the usb ports from the inside and it will slide right in… way easier than undoing the motherboard. /s
Phantom_STrikerz
Hey we have the same casing!
Content_Yak_7907
lmao, integrated backplates are a godsend
Noobeaterz
Just throw it away and pretend it was missing. I must say that thoser brackets being pre-mounted to the motherboard is a real QOL improvement. Weird really that it took them 20 years to do it.

Welcome to the club. I’m vice president and we meet on third Tuesdays of the month.
Ok_Biscotti_514
I made a different mistake of not putting it in properly, this caused crazy static in my audio whenever I opened a game , took me a while to realise I messed up putting the motherboard shield on as I was busy thinking it was a software problem
Farren246
Well you also put the CPU cooler on upside down and blowing back-to-front, so it sounds like you’ve got reasons to pull it right back apart.
Kolettos
It is called IO shield
reallyryan-1899
Been a while since I’ve seen one of these come separately with a mobo.
-AK3K-
I did this and will never put it back
MyFriendTheAlchemist
That happened to me too lol.
Kidbugs
Passive airflow

Half the time they’re a pain just to get into place. I don’t even care about them anymore.
mechanicalcanibal
It’s a mistake you only make once… then several more times after you make fun of someone else that did it.
crasagam
A few screws and you’re happy again.
Kinda like me and my girlfriend 😂
Super_61
Lol get dunked
hauntedyew
Fool.
NoveskeCQB
I refuse to buy motherboards that use those shitty I/O shields anymore.
macksters
It’s a newbee classic. Don’t fret, we all have been there.
Gertrude1976
at least you don’t have a small form factor case 😁
ddorrmmammu
Manufacturer should standardize the built-in IO shield…
TheVeilsCurse
You’re not the first person or the last! Easy mistake to make.
matiegaming
Its an io shield an all of my boards came with it installed on it so ye
ForwardPaint4978
Dude I know your pain bro
Petarthefish
You dont need it. Trash it
Deepspacecow12
I finally got a motherboard with a built in IO shield and I don’t use a case anymore lol
drklunk
Been there a couple times now, first time I just pushed it in, second time I had only mounted the Mobo so I took it out and out it in lol
Dar_Vender
I’ve done that exact thing before. First and only time I’ve done it that’s for sure. I just took the mobo screws off, moved it a little, slotted it in and re screwed it down. Wasn’t too bad.
Equal-Negotiation651
Throw against the wall, order new parts.
Liesthroughisteeth
Called an IO Shield.
ByteEater
Uuhhhh… mine didn’t fit, I had to leave it out on purpose.
You can always say that.
Izan_TM
you can take this as a chance to take off your rear fan and CPU cooler and mount them in the correct orientation
evilgingivitis
Lol I always forget the IO shield and I refuse to undo my work to install it so shieldless I live.
skol_uffda
The good news is, you’ll never miss that step again 😅
Jonas_Venture_Sr
That’s what you get for buttoning everything up before testing your machine.
VRmaster300
I used to work putting computers together, I know how you feel buddy.
Lancaster1983
Probably best to just scrap it and buy a new rig.
No_Butterscotch_3933
leaving it out is a pro move to improve airflow actually, i do not, in fact, forget it every time
chrisnipps101
And cpu cooler facing the wrong way (unless the front of your case is exhaust).
