To say it’s running a country wouldn’t be correct. The money itself is almost entirely useless. But they probably wouldn’t have spent it for that purpose anyways. Still makes for an interesting story. Personally it has me thinking about the high life of North Korean elites. Going to Dubai and spending time with other oligarchs and cronies. And for these hackers the ideas of getting rich and running with the money. Too bad, the reality is that they live in authoritarian state and the idea of leaving is impossible either way. But still I think I’d make for a good cyberpunk story.
