I’ve never understood people that never try troubleshooting things that break, and not just computers.
A lot of my family members are like this – something “breaks” and they just toss it, even if it could be easily fixed. I’m not complaining over much though, since I get a lot of free stuff this way.

Bought a Logitech mouse in 2008, daily drove it for 6 years untill the left click died. It collected dust in my PC parts drawer for about 5 years until I took an hour to disassemble it and retention the spring for the switch. My wife uses it to this day.
