I’ve looked at the Tomahawk for a while now but the Asus Rog Strix B650E-F just got a huge discount (around 80$)

Pick the one that has the features you need/want. M.2 slots, USB ports etc. After that either pick the one you like the look of, or the one that offers the best warranty.

Beyond faulty examples, a motherboard is a motherboard. They do the same thing.

ROG Strix B650E-F works very well for me. Would recommend.

  3. Strix has more usb, 5.0 M.2 (which current ssds don’t really need), and claims better ram compatibility (see qvl), but it can be lottery anyway. Others are the same, except your personal preferences

I have the tomahawk WiFi and have had no problems

Easily updated the bios through usb before install

Bios is easy to set up

    I’m happy with it

I stayed away from Asus after the issues they had with AM5

The over clocking is kind of baked into the bios at this point

  5. I’d say the Strix but watch Hardware Unboxed’s video on the best B650 models

  6. I hate ASUS, but the Strix is the better of those two boards if the price is the same.

  7. The ROG Strix is a higher tiered motherboard than the MSI Tomahawk.

  8. Strix is b650e so have acces to pcie 5.0

That doesnt matter at all now but might in future for you.

    I have the B650E-E and i’ve had 0 issues with my 7700x.

As others mentioned, the B650E-F has pci-e 5.0(for ssd)
Not relevant right now, but down the road it’ll probably come in handy.

  10. I went for the B650E due to the 5.0 pcie. Doesn’t matter for me now but might in the future.

I would go with msi, but thats because i like there bios layout and am a bit of msi fanboy

probably both fine but ive always went with msi for years now because ive never had any issues and the bios is very easy to navigate.

I would go with the ASUS. I’ve just had better luck with them. I’ve had two MSi boards fail in the past, but never an ASUS failure (on my fourth build with ASUS). But I do prefer the TUF line over Strix.

Strix mobos are actually very solid.

  15. I’ve had a ton of USB issues with my x670e TUF, take that however you want.

I don’t like armorcrate so I personally avoid ASUS products

Both are pretty good quality boards with fairly comparable feature sets. Really it comes down to preference, so get the one you like more. Not really a wrong option here imo.

  18. Check some comparison I guess gamerNexus has a playlist where they cover multiple motherboards of same chipset if you find these two motherboard in a proper comparison check their VRM performance whichever mobo has better VRM go for it.
Still my recommendation will be the Asus Rog Strix b650
Cuz It got nvme for pcie 5.0 (pls re check it once) and Asus has more resell value what I have noticed.

Have the MSI b650 tomahawk. No issues and rock solid. Wireless BT and wifi built in is nice.

Had a asus b550-a strix with a 5600 before- only issue was the usb timeouts but I think that was an AM4 chipset issue.

Loving my Tomahawk with zero issues.

I just hate MSI. Worst motherboard I ever owned. But that was some years ago maybe today they are better. Nevertheless I will never buy anything from MSI again.
