I’ve said it time and again, I DO NOT like how in the new ending you lose 90% of the people you’ve gotten close to during the game.
This by itself (though with additional things sprinkled in) makes it an ending I will never like.

My only gripe with the expantion. Felt out of character for V’s friends.
CDPR wanted something overdramatic for the price of life, but they went overboard.
Happy I didn’t have to encounter this through game. The Killing Moon was always the way.

Firstly, that’s just not at all how the reunion with Johnny’s old friends went.
Secondly, there’s a ***massive*** difference between knowing someone for a few weeks and having known someone for… let’s see, Johnny and Kerry were best friends before even forming Samurai so that’s pre-2003, while Johnny and Rogue broke up in 2011 after dating for while so that’s at least 2010. The bombing of Arasaka Tower was 2023.
Kerry and Johnny had known each other for ***two decades***, and even if (and it’s a massive if that has even to the contrary all over the place) the last time they spoke before he died was in 2013, that’s still a decade together, and Johnny and Rogue’s history goes back at least 12 years.
The people that knew V the longest (Misty and Vik) do stick around for you, but they also have their own lives that are moving at their own paces. Old chooms keep the flame burning for you, while the people that you’ve known for probably less than a month chalk you up as truly preem solo that helped them out of a bind before vanishing like so many of Night City’s edgerunners.

One difference is that V is a pretty new friend to most of these people, knowing them for a very short period of time. Sure, their impact is massive, but you can’t ignore that there’s no way to have a bond as strong as Johnny’s with his friends

V’s friends knew them for a few weeks top. Johnny had history of more than a decade with both Rogue and Kerry and they have been through some pretty tough shit together

This is the main reason why I hated the Phantom Liberty ending. It just felt too artificially written to make V feel alone in the world. I get the message that they were trying to convey, but you can’t just write these characters to be ride or die with V and then just do a 180 and have them forget about the guy in the span of only two years. It just didn’t make sense.

He’s no happy to see him. He’s still traumatized by how much of a bad influence Johnny was on him

Johnny knew his friends for around 20 years. He had deeply intertwined lives with them.
V knew his/her friends a couple months at best. V was in a coma several times longer than he knew anyone. V hardly knew them because V was busy trying not to die and didn’t have time to kick back and live.
It’s totally realistic V’s friends would basically forget about V, V was never a big part of their lives to begin with.
