Definitely sad, it hit the hardest when Vik gave his speech. Then was sorta ruined when they random jobber who came next started his speech.

  2. Oh yeah… Amazing writing. Considering how little time we spend with Jackie the loss hits hard.

  3. The writing and the general feeling of it are for sure sad, but imo I still think that there wasn’t enough time spent with Jackie in the final version of the game to really feel attached to the character.

  4. Chingadas Doradas and his bike carry me trough the game 🙂

Considering the game skipped 6 months of bonding with this guy, I’d say I didn’t have enough connection with him to get sad.

His death should have happened at around the 40-60% mark of the game if im real with ya.

Tbh if I was V I would be mad at him. It was his genius idea to take a super dangerous job from Dexter DeShawn and he was all super lighthearted about it. His mom already lost other children and he himself had many warnings and close calls that could prompt him to quit his lifestyle. Instead he put his mom through losing another child.

I felt guilty.. Jackie was so positive, excited, and determined about finally being someone important and digging his way out of the slums. Tbug and Dex treating him like he was a dunce.

Then V yelling at Jackie during the heist and then in the elevator down to Delamain.

Remembering before the heist that Misty warned Jackie to stay away from reds, angry reds. One of Arasaka’s colors is red. Black and Red.

I gave the speech about everyone thinking so little of Jackie when he was so much more than that. And.. I felt sad and guilty.

I put down the belt every time. Sure my choom wants to go out with a bang and be remembered, but he’d do anything to protect family

The first time I played that… definitely sad, hit me right in the feels, immediatly started cutting onions to cover up my feels, can’t let other ppl know I got pussy genes.

The second time I had the onions all ready there.

Third time is like “Alright, gonna lock the door to the mancave first.”

I think I missed that mission…. guess it’s time for another replay

    I really didn’t,

    It’s very typical story writing:

You get introduced to you best friend, this best friend is always there for one, you hype each other up in an otherwise cruelling world.

Just for that best friend to die sometime along the story and you be all sad and whatnot.

I’m just numb to this kind of thing, the question is not if, but when. (and in this game it was actually pretty clear when)

Naver skip a single piece of dialogue even though it’s my fifth playthrough

When playing female V, yeah. I always pick For Whom The Bell Tolls because Chermai Leigh delivers such a raw and passionate speech about Jackie’s personality then reads those lines from the book with such a sombre tone at the end. She knocked it out of the park in that sequence and it gets me every time. Michael Gregory also smashed it, wish they had given Vik a bit more to say though throughout.

Calling his voice-mail after and the gut-wrenching sadness in V gets me every playthrough.

  15. WalkerBuldog

I didn’t. Yes, he was a nice guy but I barely know him and I don’t personally sympathize with his world view and motivation. Power hungry people get me very nervous.

In my last play through I sent Jackie’s body to Vic’s which causes you to skip the ofrenda, and the early game felt like something was missing because of that.

My first instinct is to send his body to Vic’s. I just imagine a Delamaine cab pulling up to Momma Welle’s house and blowing the horn until someone comes out to investigate, only to find a dead and bloody Jackie in the back seat, while Delamaine blabs on about how the blood stains are covered by the Excalibur package, now please take this corpse out of my back seat, thank you very much. Seems less cruel to send him to Vic’s, but then you miss a great part of the game.

We were already invested in Jackie. Seeing so much of his backstory and who showed up I stopped being angry. Was mad I couldn’t help him but Sad at how many peoples lives he touched 🥹

  18. ICantTyping

I was surprised at how emotional i got. Barely had any time with jackie

It hit me on my third playthrough.

First time around, I was too busy picking up my jaw form the ground time and time again seeing how beautiful and complex Night City is. I also got he best ending, accidentally (nomad).

Second time through I focused on min-maxing and almost ignored the story.

The third time though, I aimed to complete everything and achieve everything possible (maybe aside form becoming Max Stat Man, impossible without console commands). This was done in the game @ patch 1.23.

I genuinely dived into the story and felt so bad for Misty and señorita Wells after their loss… It was even more impactful when me and Misty went through Jackie’s garage to find some memorandum for the ofrenda. Then it hit me – if I were in Misty’s position, I’d feel so heartbroken I couldn’t pick myself up. Made me so sad I didn’t return to the game for about 3 days.

  20. NextGenSleder

sometimes I tear up sometimes no but I always feel somber

  21. Treyman1115

I felt really bad for Misty and Vik, I didn’t particularly care about his death myself though

  22. OsirisAvoidTheLight

It didn’t hurt the first time through but I realized while playing V really doesn’t have anyone that had their back more than Jackie did.

  23. Lurid-Jester

I wasn’t. Ultimately don’t care about the default friend and just skip through that part to get the guns and bike.

Now Judy, on the other hand. I was bummed when she said she was leaving NC. Her friendship was just so much more organic and authentic for me.

  24. TheManWithSevenAsses

No, don’t get me wrong the game has alot of well written and emotional parts but personally I don’t feel anything from any kind of media anymore. I’ve just become jaded and apathic over the years

  25. Tophatproductions69

Me who actually got to experience it this playthrough as opposed to my first playthrough where I sent him to viks with the simple logic of Mama Welles wouldn’t wanna see her dead son

  26. I got spoiled of his death so i didnt fell that much. The end of v and Johnnys relationship on the other hand… that was something. Dosent matter what ending. I took rogues ending(keeping v) for my first playthrough wich was already though but the devil ending… its devastating. Johnny is just gone… v is depreesd and will die too. You feel betrayd, you know you made the wrong choice. Johnny warns you about it but damm…
