i have this issue on my monitor. similar vertical dark shadow head once appeared in the middle of the screen right now I have the same issue on the right side of my monitor, but it doesn’t go when I hit it slightly
Looks like a backlight issue. Should be covered under warranty if you still have that. If not…not much you can do.
Davajita
It might be a blown cap. I replaced one on a monitor a few years ago that had a very similar issue.

Seems like a LED has gotten a bit loose or traces for it, if you want to try to solder it it could be a pretty easy fix.
SpaceGhost777666
As other said looks like backlighting is going bad. Should be fixable even if its a capacitor that is going bad it can be fixed.
But here is the thing can you afford to replace it? If yes then I would try to fix it myself. If no then you leave it alone and keep using it until it either goes black. At that point you can tear it apart and try to fix it yourself with 0 to lose. If your fix works you are golden if it does not work you lost nothing be time and a few bucks trying.
Xantholeucophore
it’s going bright because you’re hitting it. if you don’t hit it, it doesn’t go bright.
Agreeable_Vanilla_20
If its out of warranty buy a new one and do the old switcheroo for a refund

Looks like that’s happening because you’re hitting it.

That’s pretty cool, I wish I had a monitor like that.

As some others said it might by dead capatitor but i skew to think that it is dead end of the light tube. Tube itself is not fixable, only replacable that requires to take apart even the lcd assambly.
Doable, might be expensive and risky.

Maybe don’t hit it?

I think I know a way to fix this. Get a motor that vibrates back and forth and attach a little hammer to it so that it hits it repetitively and afix it to the corner of the monitor and boom, fixed

Faulty backlight.

If you tap it and it flashes the connection is bad. Might be able to disassemble and solder.
