If I could eliminate the entire “River” sub-plot and replace it with a “Can you stand still for eight real life game hours?” quest, I’d happily stand from 8AM – 4PM to avoid this guy altogether. Just gives me the heebie-jeebies with that coat. He looks like a homeless cop, and that’s being nice.

I’m not sure if it’s because I’m a straight guy, but I just find this whole romance option so incredibly forced, as if with Judy, Kerry & Panam there’s proper story but with River it’s just… 0-60 in 30 minutes?

Something I noticed from phantom Liberty, if you call your friends to tell them you might have found a cure from the FIA that includes river yet not once did you ever tell river about the biochip. To me it feels like they just forgot to add more to river’s story simply because they didn’t want to. I wonder if they felt his romance just wasn’t that good but had to have a straight female V an option ya know?

It definitely felt forced. I was already loyal to my girl Panam when I got into his storyline so I intended to just be bros with him, then he suddenly got uncomfortable when his sister brought up me having a relationship with someone and I was like “Bruh.”

River was a great character done dirty as a romance. Honestly both the guys were but Kerry definitely got it better than River. But both of them being barely in the main story if at all felt strange.

The ironic thing is I’ve seen footage of the cut male v romance and it’s really well written. They sit and have a whole conversation about growing up queer.
For some reason though CD Projekt cut it so it was never finished. Instead it sounds like they just left River kind of half done as a character as a result.

Personally, I like him as a character, but, after having done his romance, I would never date him. My man gives off the wrong kind of vibes, the red flag kind.
Like I would have him as a buddy to shoot the shit with over some drinks, but that would be as far as I would take it.

Never have I dreaded doing ANY companion quests as much as I hate his. I mean there’s the obvious one that’s super creepy that I almost sickeningly wish would’ve gone on a bit longer (the creepy one was like an episode of X-Files, I loved it).
But this dude trying to get in my pants in any playthrough just pisses me off.
