the reason we get unfinished games is because of the gamer hivemind piling up on gamestudios when they miss their deadlines and bullying them into releasing the games as early as possible. this wasnt an issue back when people online didnt convince themselves that a game coming out later was a significant inconvenience to them. i bet rockstar already has trailers for gta 6 ready but they wont release anything because any kind of teasing a new game just generates a ton of degenerates spamming their social media and support teams because they want the game asap no matter what

I’ll be perfectly honest, I think that a lot of the problems that modern games have would exist whether or not people pre-order the games or not, because the decisions that we made that lead to the game being broken were made long before pre-orders opened.

Bioware blew 6 years of their 8 year dev cycle for Anthem with inter-office arguments and directorial mash; the game didn’t even have an elevator pitch a month before it’s E3 gameplay reveal, and that was long before the game was up for pre-order.

Respawn didn’t choose to launch Titanfall 2 between BF5 and CoD: Infinite Warfare because of pre-order, it’s because they legit thought that it could complete and win on that stage.

Whether or not people pre-ordered Mass Effect Andromeda wasn’t going to change the fact that Bioware was the ones who decided to give the project to Bioware Montreal, a brand new sister studio with all new devs and managers with game dev no experience.

Don’t forget fallout 76 and no man sky.

the mgs collection is surprisingly better than i expected, especially since some intern was sharing workarounds for technical problems from day one ( and they listened to the audience with steam cloud) [which is fucking stupid that we had to tell them that but good job on listening]

Let’s still call that crap out, because preorder or not, it’s still unacceptable.

But yeah, stop fucking preordering. It’s a digital product; It’s not like they’re going to run out of stock.

At this point, pre-ordering is pretty much the same as paying to be a beta tester.

When will people learn? Wait a few years and get it on sale

I always play new games 2-4 years after they come out
