Mr. Frog single-handedly destroying every “what should I upgrade next” post.

You don’t need the upgrade cycle to be happy. Relax. Enjoy.

  2. What is that icon on the finger supposed to be…?

  3. NonviolentOffender

Literally me, who only upgrades every 5 years.

  4. alinzalau

I did a top of the line build in dec last year. Until then? Gamed on a laptop for 7 years. Still worked but it was time. Fun wise? Its the same !

  5. Insanelover23

But I like wasting my money on the new shiny stuff! ā˜¹ļø

  6. CavemanMork

    Thank you mister frog.

Unfortunately it was time to let go of my i7 2500 and rx580.

Hopefully my new build will last me as long.

  7. DimlyGTX

Thank you for letting me enjoy my GTX 1650 Ti for a little more

  8. MrByteMe

Especially applicable to all those “is xGB vram enough”…

  9. dragonchill420

As a man with a gtx 1050 ti I can agree, just got the ti version this year and having 4gb of v ram is so much to me.

  10. TheLittleBadFox

Yeah but the fear of my laptop with rtx 1650 melting when playing modern games is real.

    Dear Mr. Frog,

Yes Mr. Frog, my computer is meeting my needs at surfing web and doing office stuff.

But my computer can’t play new games that I want to play. Can anyone enjoy playing 10-15fps @ 1080p low settings? Sometimes Mr. Frog, we want to release some stress but shit how can we release if we can’t even play properly. Yes Mr. Frog, I know the games sucks now at optimization that’s why I pirate those games.

Don’t tell me how should I enjoy things. You’re not paying me nor giving the stuff that I use.

  12. Yeah I need to remember this. I’ve been sitting wondering about upgrading to a rx 7800xt on black Friday and selling my rx 6700 (non xt). Like, I don’t think I even need to really. I still play in 1080p and I’m probably just doing it to absolutely future proof myself for a while. Would be nice to crank some settings up in cyberpunk as well.

  13. chiichan15

Aestethics covers almost half of the supposed price of a PC build today.

  14. Nick_Noseman

PC games don’t have an expiration date.

  15. Duckywarry

I have a laptop with an RTX 3050. It’s not much, but I don’t play on 4k 144hz ultra settings. There are people here who genuinely feel like 90+fps is the bare minimum

  16. BuffaloSoldier11

Me with my 6750xt that does the job just fine.

Master Frog is wise indeed. In all seriousness, please do not compare your hardware to others. There will always be someone with better spcs, if your pc can run all the games you want comfortably, you don’t need to upgrade or compare your pc with others, as comparison is theft of joy. Hell this happened with me, I have a rx 6800 xt oc, and my friend(who is doing a graphic designer course or something and actully needs it) got a rx 7900 xtx, I was like, Damm bro, and thinking should i try to get one as well. But then I remembered, I am a law student, I am playing all my games at 1440p max settings(I have a 1440p 144hz monitor) and I don’t need a new gpu(I just got my pc 2 months ago), just cause I can. So what did I learn, never compare with others, and you do not need to upgrade if you don’t need to.

  18. Hmasteryz

As long it works , just use it dude, don’t try to fix something that is not broken.

  19. NeverEndingWalker64

Only upgrade when it’s strictly necessary.

Like me with an HD 3000 after it begun to fail to overclock. I had overclocked it from 250mhz to 1.2 gigahertz until it just stopped working fine.

Now I’ll keep my RX 5700 until 2030 or so if I don’t find an extremely good deal or if the world doesn’t end.

  20. Cheefnuggs

My rig is 7 years old and still trucking along. Just wish I could play the new cyberpunk DLC and starfield. Hopefully around spring time I’ll have enough saved

  21. PixelBLOCK_

Yup totally agree, don’t compare your setup with others

  22. KyotoSoul

I just picked up a 32gb 3600 cl16 kit yesterday… Where were you Mr Frog?

  23. 2N5457JFET

That’s why I don’t watch hardware reviews after I buy hardware. I don’t need someone telling me that my setup is outdated one year from buying and that I need to buy the newest shit for 30% gain in benchmarks which translates to 5% gain in real life usage.

  24. No.

I must upgrade, adapt, improve, consume. I could be better. I must be better. šŸ¤–

  25. izzyzak117

If this frog was in my head maybe I could stop stealing things…

  26. AnozerFreakInTheMall

Nah, man, I’m not crying. Those are the tears of excitement about my laptop from 2011.

  27. good thing everything I want to play can easily run on a Polaris card

  28. fed0tich

I agree, even though I’m looking at new hardware with plans to upgrade, my FX8370 and RX480 build still brings me a lot of joy.

  29. That’s what i thought as well but the way new games are being optimized for dlss and fsr my 1080 ti is unable to meet my needs anymore
