I don’t use a wooden Tyler1 chair but my chair might as well be the same. I have no support and I’m perpetually uncomfortable unless I add pillows.
I know that any random office chair from Staples isn’t going to be good. I want to buy as close to an endgame chair as possible, the same as we try to do with PC parts. It’s probably more important than any PC part after all.

That chair looks like it will cause back pain lol… Good seat goes a long way, a key aspect is the positioning of the hips. Ensuring that your hips aren’t overly bent is vital. Aim for a seat level where your thighs remain parallel to the ground. This alignment not only alleviates undue stress on the lower back but also ensures proper weight distribution and circulation. In the long run should look into rectifying that back pain, it will just get worse over time.

The two flagship gaming chairs are the secret lab omega or titan, or the razor iskur. Both are in the $500 range. I can say personally that the razor is very firm. The razor also has adjustable lumbar built in, not a cushion you add

Tried an expensive gaming chair and it wasnt very comfortable and didnt last very long.
Currently i use a staples hyken ergonomic chair and its been great for the 2 years that i have had it. I settled on this particular chair after quite a bit of shopping and watching youtube reviews.
You can adjust the tension so that you can lean back when you want and still sit up straight with some support.
The only gripes i have about the chair are that i wish the adjustable arms would go about a half inch lower (im 5’8″-5’9″) and that the head rest had been built to accommodate a gaming headset with trackir use.
The mesh seat is the most comfortable of any chair i have owned.
The gaming chair was absolutely painful. If you are going to buy a chair, go for one that is by design meant to be sat in for at least an 8 hour work day.

Well a short tip and most of time it works:
Check your back shape in mirror, normally our upper back is outwards and our lower back is inwards like a slight “S” shape while we stand sideways front of mirror.
So, use a chair with slightly tilted back rest with small square pillow or any soft item which ONLY supports lower back (as to maintain our body shape to avoid pains).
Ofc we need to do stretches and exercises for back pains too but above tip should work.

I think it’s a great chair and I definitely recommend it to people, HOWEVER, there are some things to keep in mind. I am a large man 6’3 and 380+ pounds. Due to the height and weight rating of normal computer chairs, I tend to wear them down fairly quickly. The T2XL has a height and weight capacity that works for me, and going on 3 years, the chair still feels out of the box.
That said I know gaming chairs are not the best, and I only recommend the SL chairs because of the build quality.

The office chair won’t be cheap. I’m using a Herman Miller Aeron refresh that cost me about 1300€.
You should spend about 500€ to get a quality chair that will last you a decade or more. With spare parts, my Aeron will last 30 years easily.
The chair should have adjustable
* seat height
* seat depth
* lumbar support
* armrest height
* armrest angle
* armrest position
In that priority. A synchronous reclining helps also to prevent back and neck pain.
I have a wood dining room chair similar to the one in the picture, and some cheap gaming chair.
The wood one is for the summer when I get covered in sweat.

If you got IKEA where you live, go get you the chair “Markus”, it is quiet cheep and it is the best. If you are past 100kg I would buy this chair every two years or so because otherwise it makes some noise.

I’m 26 years old and have been starting to have lower back pain. I worked as an automotive Detailer for 3 years which involved a lot of bending in awkward ways. I now work from home and sit at my computer for 10+ hours per day.
I picked up a Haworth Fern from an outlet store a month or so ago. Cost me $350 but it was in like-new condition. 100% worth it.
Edit: Just some added thoughts. I would never recommend a “gaming chair.” I’ve owned one, and it was extremely uncomfortable and broke after less than 1 year. Total waste of money. I also use a Herman Miller Aeron at my on-site office desk. Those chairs can be great, IF you’re sitting in a properly sized chair. All of the Aeron chairs at my office are the same size (too large for me) and are therefore not actually very comfortable. I sat in a smaller Aeron chair at an outlet store, felt way better.

There are a couple of things to consider aside from which chair you decide to buy. First and foremost you need to find a chair with arm support. The armrest should be at the same height as your table/desk.
Then your display height should be at around the hight of your eye line.

I browsed craigslist and got a herman miller aeron for $360. Was from a dude who buys broken office chairs, fixes them up, and resells them.
Used market for high end office chairs can be good depending on where you are, I recommend browsing craigslist/facebook marketplace for any deals on a chair that interest you.

So I love my gaming chair but that’s because I’m a little creature of habit and if you gave me a literal rock to sit on long enough, I’d form a sentimental bond with it and never change.
That being said, I wouldn’t recommend a gaming chair. To this day, the best chair I ever had was some mystery non-brand chair I got at an office liquidation sale and that thing is probably more responsible for any and all gaming achievements I might have had, because ever since replacing that chair I’ve never TRULY gotten that perfect level of comfort/mobility that I used to have.
No joke, changed chairs and deranked in almost every competitive game I play lol. Nobody really tells you how important things like consistency of wrist height and elbow support (or not) can impact your aim.

Chairs do not prevent back pain. Back pain is caused by weak back muscles. Staying in any chair long term will cause this. To prevent back pain you need to do excersies to strengthen those muscles and move around every hour to hour and a half.

Some exercise to strengthen and loose muscles is usually helping a ton, too.
I got a good chair at home and work, my pain only got better with some exercises I do from time to time.
4 years of daily use. I will be buying another when this one is too worn.
I have degenerative disc disease and have no issues 10+ hours some days.

Check out foreclosure auctions for offices and government agencies. Higher ups tend to have nicer stuff and you can pick stuff up on the cheap. I used to be a mover and the things people would auction off for pennies or simply throw away were insane. Also, if you live near a university town, wait until move out weekend and have a truck and two buddies on standby. Curb alerts can be freaking goldmines.
