Hi, i just bought a new monitor but it does not look like the one advertised. Online it looked like it was borderless but in reality it has black borders on all sides, is there a way to make it actually borderless? The monitor is Gigabyte GS27QC.

There’s also a few locked settings like picture and black equalizer that unlocks after turning hdr off. There are settings that i cannot unlock no matter what: aim stabilizer, rgb range and overscan. Ofc i checked the instructions and there is nothing about all that.
No, and wow what a sleezy tactic to sell a monitor. Make it look borderless in the marketing images. I’d return it on those gounds personally. Thats just a shitty thing to do.
You fell for marketing bullshit. Always look at a review with actual photos of the unit.
But honestly didnt you notice that the marketing picture has a perfectly square image while the monitor is supposed to be curved?
This is as good as it gets though. Its not like other monitors in that price range have smaller bezels.

Oof, that’s some really misleading marketing. But it’s a good learning experience, I guess. Make sure to find information on the bezels of the monitor next time.
I fell for the same thing with another brand, but hey honestly you don’t even notice the bezels after a while, and if the monitor makes up for it with its features at a good price like mine did than I don’t mind at all
Alienware pulls the same shady marketing. In reality it has similar borders to what you’re seeing with your GS27QC.

That looks like the G27QC. Does it have a wide base and vertical height adjustment? I bought 3 of them 3 years ago.
Gigabyte is garbage, there’s a reason all their products are priced significantly lower than other. (Their mobos are decent tho)

Depending on your country this could be a “goods not as described” return. However watch out for the sneaky fine print of “not picture of real product.

But just looked it up and they have a “trailer” for it **Borderless** in the thumbnail, but the video itself shows it correctly.
That is fucked. If it makes you feel any better my monitor is great, so probably you’ll be happy with it.
Double check the model you received. If correct I’d return it if you really wanted the bezeless. There’s zero reason to give gigabyte your money if this is case.
I recently was looking at a chuwi Laptop after the Ltt video about one. I looked at the product page and went to watch a review, i was sure i was looking at a different laptop in the review because the bezels were like x5 times 🙈😅
Realistically when they say bezelless leaving the plastic part going over the LCD not the black bar around It’s unfortunate that they’re deceptive like that but it’s it’s very common
lg does the same shit along with numerous others.
remember *the images on screen are simulated
a couple of the settings only show up when plugged into dp instead of hdmi and vice versa. same with the stuff you already found.
fwiw, the ones on my lg’s are about 8mm per side including the plastic housing. on 32’s
that brightness level hurts my eyes

tbh that seems pretty normal for a gaming monitor, i have a 32 inch AOC ccurved monitor ad my bezels are about the same on all side *apart from the buttom.*
If you get your eyeballs close enough to the screen and look to the left and right their will be less boarders.
You need to get really close to the screen like touching it with your nose.
I had this same thing years ago with my Acer Predator XB271HU, all the advertising showed the display going right to the edge, and the product didn’t do that. I ended up complaing to Acer, and this was their response:
“Our global PM team have responded to us advising that there appears to have been a genuine and regrettable error in the photos used to represent your model on the Acer website, as it may provide a misleading representation on the actual display presented. Our global PM team have informed us that this is a genuine and unintentional error, for which they will be taking steps to rectify the photos and ensure that all future photos used in their product marketing will reflect the actual features and specifications for the their range of models.
On behalf of Acer’s global PM team, we would like to extend our sincerest apologies for this situation and for any inconvenience to you. As the marketing content does not match that of your actual monitor, you are entitled to return the monitor for a full refund. please do let us know if you would like to return the monitor so that we can make the appropriate arrangements.”
I don’t remember following up at the time, and the specific page doesn’t exist anymore that I linked to them with examples, however any marketing images that I can find on Google seem to show the border now.
Could be worth complaing to save others if you can be bothered.

I have LG 850p with the same issue, but at least it was shown in promo pictures.

HDR? Some HDR standards like HDR 400 are bullshit. And it doesnt guarantee that your monitor will follow the HDR standard
1ms response times? Most use “1ms MPRT”. To put it simply rather than it being 1ms for the pixels to change from frame to frame, its just turning on and off every 1ms. Now whats the problem you may ask? Well, its that the pixels havent even changed frame, so you end up with a blurry mess half the time and a totally unuseable “1ms” mode
RGB coverage? Some monitors lie about that
Refresh rate? Some monitors dont meet those standards. I even saw a 240hz monitor have a 12ms response time once. To be a 240hz monitor you need more like 4ms at LEAST

But I dont think you can go real border less in that price range, even high end ones dont have the bezels advertised by that one really scummy from gigabyte.
Go for viewsonic or LG.
Maybe get out the power saw and take a bit off the edges? But no. As someone who did months of research before buying my dream monitor a year or so ago, this isn’t an uncommon practice unfortunately.
Borders that are embedded in the screen like that are pretty normal. Even BenQ monitors are like that

Is normal to have that type of border. Mine has that too, exactly the same. It looks like the screen but that section has no pixels and no backlight so it’s just black. My Viewsonic XG 2405 has the same thing. In this case it was advertised correctly, i did see the borders on the site i bought it from
Ouch!, well, this brand is called “Gigacrap” for a reason.
I got this AOC monitor in 2019, or maybe it’s predecessor, anyways after 6 months I was so happy with it that I got another, I have 4 now and I’m still using the first one as my main monitor nearly 5 years later, no dead pixels or any problems whatsoever on any of them. Big fan, much praise , bla bla bla. I was very worried about them because it was a completely unknown brand to me, but there was a huge discount on prime day or something like that and I just had to give it a shot, thought I’d return it if it didn’t turn out well.
