Decided to post a better picture after my last one got removed. Yes the payphone works, I’m using a device to link it to my cell as a regular land line telephone. It also doubles as a change vault/coin bank. The stereo unit is for capture of vinyls and cassettes, or just writing to cassettes. it feeds into the line in on my computer, when I want to write I simply run the cable from an output to the input on the front above the output it’s currently plugged into.

To be fair, nobody said you *couldn’t* take the payphones off the street. As far as I know its free equipment.
