I feel like this is what game devs have fully embraced and where we’re headed!

The worst optimized game of 2023 so far doesn’t even support DLSS

  2. It’s is not devs doing that. It is publisher execs.

Passionate devs want to optimize and make great games.

Execs want to meet quarterly targets, please shareholders, and get their bonuses.

Some of these games coming out make me wonder what they have the GPU doing to warrant that long of a render time per frame.

Could they just not make the games so unnecessarilly graphically demanding?? Who gives a fuck about ambient occlusion, 16x anisotropic filtering etc. It’s just unnecesary bullshit

Why work hard when AI can fix all of your laziness and budget constraints

  7. I feel like advanced settings in games are not doing anything anymore. Low and ultra presets look almost the same, have almost the same performance, and the only thing that really matters is target resolution and upscaling factor

This is probably one of the dumbest clickbait narratives this sub loves to parade around.

imagine having a 4090 and then being told to use these or turn down settings to make the game get an acceptable frame rate

not just games. same shit happens in other software.

“why optimize our phone app, we can just throw 87M $ in additional servers at it”
