And soldiers follow orders. Yet, we still hold them accountable.

We are all responsible for our little slice of this world. If devs just want to go to work and cash a check, okay. If they want to preach, or say we wanted it(random game) to be better. Then they need to make that change happen.

They are responsible for communicating the deadline and the consequence when such deadline is ignored to the investors.

yeah there should be way more backlash against ceos and higher managers. theres no reason to send devs death threat over products they worked hard on.

Fucking devs, it’s their fault my wife left me.

Us devs aren’t lazy, debugging goes one of two ways. And almost always takes forever.

Not wrong, but also remember some devs where “worried” that people will get higher expectations thanks to games like baldur’s gate 3…

Almost everything in gaming right now is a leadership issue.

The c-suite is focused on quarterly earning and so underinvest in technical debt and human resources, sacrificing growth next quarter for profits this quarter.

Managers and team leads either don’t have the technical experience and are just white collar corporate hacks, or they don’t have the resources required to accomplish the mission because of problems in the c-suite.

  8. idk wtf you’re talking about I’m a dev and I’m lazy as fuck

I agree to an extent seeing as management is a huge issue right now, but there’s a lot of bloat in gaming companies nowadays as well. A lot of developers get away with doing the bare minimum. Of course there are hard workers neglected. But there’s just as many people who are awful at game development who somehow got hired in these places.

nor does it help they the companies cut corners, do minimal or outright ignores testing phases, performance and optimization and not just saying upgrade your pc

Perfect example of devs made the game without managers and deadlines is Factorio.

Although yes, devs are underpaid and their fate is decided by management, it’s delusional to think that the lack of experienced devs(caused by the mentioned problems) is a problem too, and inexperienced CS bachelor souls do fuck up in places where more experienced dev wouldn’t
