This whole cities skylines fiasco really reminds me of something

I remember this. You need to be constantly connected to their servers even when playing single player because the server did a lot of calculations for the simulation.

    The was a lie.

  2. TrollularDystrophy

Ironic, considering that blunder was what pushed many people to Cities: Skylines in the first place.

out of the loop, whats the issue with City Skylines 2? Please don’t say you need to be online all the time or you can’t play it. That was a massive killer for me as a solo player.

Idc what anyone says ill take 2013 simcity over skylines lol.

  5. 2Mark2Manic

You were the chosen one! It was said that you would destroy the incompetent, not join them! Bring balance to citybuilders… not leave it in darkness!

After changing the recommended display settings I’m getting an average of 58.9 FPS @ 1440, according to my AMD software. 7800x3d 7900xt 32gb. Any settings not changed are set to high.

Sim City 4 used to run in around 10FPS back in the day on a big city~

For a city sim it feels like the need for 120FPS is a tad overkill.

  8. Not even close. I’m playing it on Gamepass and I currrntly don’t have any issues with my 3090 at 1440p. Gameplay wise it’s actually good. If people are having technical issues that stuff can luckily be fixed with a few patches. Although they should have fixed that before release.

Overall, the issue with Simcity 2013 was that it was a bad game. Skylines is not a bad game.

simcity was so much worse bc they ruined the gameplay too. I remember being so god damn disappointed.

  10. Hm… Simcity was ok.. But SimCity 2000 was tge absolut best.

Oh.. You’re talking of modern remakes? – oh yea, those are total garbage.

  11. BearBraz

Does anyone makes a game like he old 2d SimCity?

  12. Im_Balto

My FPS in Cities Skyline 2 is perfectly fine? Im very confused about all the controversy after booting it up today

  13. HorzaDonwraith

Honestly not even close to comparison. Cities skylines 2 will get better, guaranteed. EA never made any worthwhile improvements to sim City. They only cared for money and how much they could get from you.

  14. mageakeem

is the performance horrible before tweaking the settings? yes totally

is the game horrible and bad once tweaked? not at all.

I play on 2 systems (no questions please lol) 10900K+3080 and 13900K+4090 and it does work. I can however imagine someone running a 2060 having problems.

  15. I’m playing on a 1060 with a r3 2200g and it’s been running fine for me at 1080p low-med and it looks pretty decent as well tbh

  16. SeanCityNavy_Gaming

I can understand why people didn’t like this, but I personally enjoyed it and still do to this day, even if I am the only mfer playing on the Antartica Servers

  17. OKishGuy

That’s an entire different kind of fiasco.

    City Skyline 2 Problems:

    * highly un-optimized

    Sim City 5 Problems:

    * dropping the numbering in the name
    * forcing always online on a single player game
    * massive server problems at launch
    * very small maps
    * I think there weren’t any disasters at launch?

  18. bumpyclock

It’s completely different. I played sim city when it originally launched and that game was travesty. They straight up lied about needing always online because the game was so complicated that it couldn’t run locally. Lmao ten fucking years ago. It ran fine but it was so limiting that it killed the god damn franchise.

I’ve been playing CS2 since launch and the game has perf issues yea but they mostly boil down to the stupid ass defaults. If they turned off some of the problematic settings that don’t really do anything in a game like this until they had them optimized they wouldn’t be getting this hate.

Half the people in this sub are just stirring up shit even if they don’t play games in this genre.

  19. megaladon44

Skylines places the same buildings twenty or more times on a hill its not good looking

  20. Mysterious_Word7243

In confused, what was so bad about this game? I played it all the time on the iPad

  21. MrShaytoon

One of the biggest letdowns in gaming history. (Cyberpunk might be worse maybe)

It was the most beloved game that instantly became ruined by the higher ups. “Multiplayer” was an absolute shit show and I couldn’t get or find a single person to commit.

  22. This isn’t even close. I’m not caping for EA or paradox here but SimCity had systemic issues that couldn’t be fixed and CS2 needs optimization and expansions that are coming in due time

  23. Feronous

I liked this game way more than skylines. Skylines was a better ‘zen garden’ where you get your city to look how you want to too(zoning, etc) but SIMCity 2013 had more charm and character IMO. I wish MAXIS was still around.

  24. dsmithcc

Cities skylines 2 is actually a good game it’s just beyond horribly optimized, sim city was not only poorly optimized but it was also a bad game.

  25. PsychologicalFinish

I hope Cities Skylines II is at least a solid, feature-rich game hidden beneath all that FPS massacre. I installed it via Game Pass and well, it didnt run well. lol.

  26. Ledairyman

I just want a casual city builder where I don’t need to manage everything.

Like Sim City 3 level of management would be fine.

  27. CanadaSoonFree

Oh this is running 10000x better than sim city launch.

You couldn’t even play it due to online issues and it frequently reset hours of progress.

  28. Knopperdog

It’s really not as big of a deal as everyone is making it out. I don’t know why everyone has to be so dramatic.
The performance isn’t great, but they are aware and have been very transparent about it and have stated that it will be worked on with the latest patches.
    I’m having fun
