As I was repasting my GPU, my cat jumped over from my desk to the island, directly on top of my gpu. She got scared and pushed it off the table DIRECTLY ONTO THE TILE FLOOR. it was mostly assembled when it happened, but the corner of the pcb looks absolutely destroyed. It fell about 4.5 feet. Is this thing dead? Is it safe to plug it in and find out?

Wow that’s some serious damage. As the others posted the only way to find out is to test it.

How screwed are you, you ask. Well in terms of function it’s fine, I’m sure there is no need to worry.
I mean you hit it on a corner between the edge of a PCB and a screw hole, what electrical engineer is gonna run circuits between a hole and the edge of the PCB

Gently squeeze it flat, cover it in electrical tape (mostly to hide the ugliness), and give it a shot. Maybe test it in another, less important, system if you can. But I bet it’s okay.
Could still work hope there is no tracing lines at that spot

Perhaps you should lock up your cat while working with expensive electronics?
I don’t see from the picture traces of copper inside or outside. perhaps make sure there is only insulation material and no residual copper touch anything or between before applying power.
I’ve seen worse work fine.

Is the cat still under warranty? It might just need to be thrown away.
Probably none at all, I used work on pizza cutters- (industry term for circuit board cutters), and most boards are cut out of bigger assemblies. -(another term they use alot). If it works it works…plain and simple.
Given that the edges of PCBs usually have no components or traces on them, besides maybe being made to ground, it should honestly be fine. Maybe cover with electrical tape like another user said
If you haven’t already desex your cat, then if your not confident testing it yourself, get a trusted pc repair shop to put it on their testbench to see if it can post and/or how you can proceed.
That looks like about the best place you could possibly damage a board. There is probably a ground trace there but likely no crucial traces or components.
I think you’re gonna be ok. If it were me, I would definately boot it up.
Sometimes I think I want a cat, and then I read a post like this and remember I definitely don’t.
