I think it’s most likely Media files that take this much space.

The pictures and videos it’s autosaving count towards its storage.

  3. It’s all the Chinese spyware and all the logged blacklists of anti Chinese stuff, like Pooh bear or Tiananmen Square

WhatsApp saves all media files locally, this includes videos/images/voice notes from all conversations and groups, so if you got a shit ton of groups and people keep sending images/videos WhatsApp will keep saving that and storing it locally.

You should be able to manually delete the transferred content from this folder:

    C:\Users\{UserFolder}\AppData\Local\Packages\{WhatsAppFolder}\LocalState\shared\transfers

Just replace the UserFolder and WhatsAppFolder with what you have on your PC.
Basically, navigate to Packages and open the folder with “WhatsAppDesktop” name on it.

By default, all the pics/videos that people send you are saved to the machine. You can turn it off in settings

  8. No, it’s not a bug, it’s just whatsapp being shit as always

Probably all the pictures and video it downloaded from group chats.

  10. WhatsApp server does not keep any data, so it’s all pushed to your devices. No caching, just actual storage.

Here in China we use WeChat which took up around 65GB on my iPhone……. Because, the developer think it’s a good idea to backup all the data on device and not on server. It’s kind of ok for privacy but the storage issue are really a pain in the ass.

Whatsapp is a Facebook product, so of course it’s a resource hog.

This mf was somehow using 250gb on my 450gb SSD

  14. Probably all the pictures and videos you send and recive, if you dont care for them there should be an option to delete all those files in the app settings

By default it saves all the media shared in your chats, so all the videos and pictures.

No bug. Just clear the thousand videos people sent you.
