I know people hate it but I thought most of the hate on the 4060 came from price to performance. BOY WAS I WRONG! I picked up a 4060 on Facebook marketplace for $200. Thought it would be a total steal over the 3060 I just got that is still in return window. Nope. I have been mostly playing halo infinite and I got half the FPS compared to the 3060. Either I’m doing something wrong, or the 4060 sucks so bad it’s not even worth $200.

Something is wrong. It’s a shit value but it’s still usually faster than the 3060.
It was a pointless upgrade though. You’d have been better off keeping the 3060 for another year and getting a 5060 when that comes out.
Are you sure you got it all connected properly. Updated drivers? Using the GPU’s port, right?
Used? Maybe a bad card. It should be noticeably faster than your 3060. Check warranty, but you might have gotten played.
I know the 3060 and 4060 use the same driver package but for some reason you still need to DDU the drivers and reinstall. Same thing happened to me when i upgraded from a 1070 to a 3070 i was like “nice i already have the drivers installed.” but actually no.
OK, the 4060 does beat the 3060 so it should get better fps. I play halo infinite too(season 5 is awesome!) and got 110 fps on a 1660 super. It’s either a driver issue or maybe the game. Could also be the lack of vram on the 4060. Your are probably playing on ultra right? I use a custom setting where everything was on ultra except the two most vram-gobbling factors. Try this setting and it might help your fps.
Only 4060 worth buying is gigabyte’s low profile one. Perfect if you want a small little pc to haul around if you’re moving. But I guess this deal counts too.

Upgrading 3060 to 4060 looks like a weird idea. But, if i remember correctly, 4060 has noticably lower power consumption than it’s predecessor, so upgrading something older to 4060 makes more sense than to 3060
$200 is fair for a new 4060 (but a rip off for a used one). It should moderately outperform the 3060. If you were getting, say, 60 FPS, the 4060 should improve it to about 80 FPS.
You should get about 20% extra performance.
But you may lose it if you are on a gen3.0 motherboard, since the 4060 is a sorry little ass 128 bit bus and only has 8 pciexpress lanes, whereas the 3060 has 192 bit bus and a full fat 16x pciexpress link (and more vram which is getting useful even at 1080 for latest titles).
Yeah, something’s wrong there, it shouldn’t be getting worse performance…
