I think they do stretch the meaning of a “Tank” very thinly with the Basilisk. But if we use any of the current definitions of IFV or Tank, then it doesn’t fit in either one. Probably more akin to an SPG or a multi role vehicle.

From what I can read from wikipedia, Infantry Fighting Vehicles are AFVs that carry infantry. The Basilisk can only carry two operators, not infantry. And since it is hovering, it wouldnt do well as a Infantry tank _(tanks that directly support infantry)_ either, risking being pushed over covering infantry or getting shots passing below it.
Its focus on speed, mobility, and low profile, I would think it is categorised as a __Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle__. Like the FV101 Scorpion but bigger.
But I’m no expert.

In lore it’s some cargo transport, which is stupid. You don’t add guns to transports and having hovercraft transport is even worse since it would heavily limited in cargo capacity and it doesn’t seem like there is any actual space store said cargo.
25 mm autocannon is fine for IFV but lacks any capacity to carry dismounts.
You could probably use it as some kind of light reconnaissance vehicle or infantry support but basilisk seem like vehicle designed specifically for the game and the few missions it’s in.

Panam said some shit about it being a cargo hauler, but it has next to no cargo space. It also doesn’t have troop seats. It can really only be called a tank (probably light) or fire support vehicle.

If it has a cannon on it, its a tank to most people.
