They are trying to get inexperienced people to buy it
The problem with Amazon and Newegg is they allow resellers access to their online retail outlets. This lets in a lot of additional choice for consumers, but is also a hotbed for people just trying to screw over the uninformed.

It’s so expensive because they’re whaling with new-old stock. Amazon price bots tend to do that when very few sellers have the product anymore.
In our country, the 2070’s are going for around $180-$200 second hand.

They are no longer being produced that’s why they are expensive to buy new, and there is no reason to buy such a GPU new.

Supply and Demand. I had a brand new 980 Ti Lightning that I bought for $750 back in 2015 and sold it brand new for $2000 in 2020. I think it was lockdowns making people buy dumb shit and I was lucky enough to get someone sucked in.

For 600$, you could get a 3080 Ti. Which is like 2x better than a 2070

I paid the same price for my 2080Ti two years ago off a friend who never used it. He wanted a 3090Ti and needed to sell it real quick. I was happy because I had a 1660Ti and wanted a 3070 but the 3070 was going for $1,000 at least around that time. Glad I got it when I did. And even though the 2080Ti came out in 2018 as well, it still competes. Upgrade will be needed by next year though that’s for sure. But yea this is just re-sellers trying to take advantage of people who don’t know any better.
