i saw you wrote you have gtx 780 and i7 4770k, my advice is to not buy monitor but rather save up to upgrade your PC, i got 144 Hz monitor with my ryzen 7 2700 and 1060 3 GB and ran most of the time 60 Hz, i started using 144 Hz when i got 2060 super and ryzen 5 5600x.

eerrmm… XL 20somthingK (boy I really should remember) 240hz monitor for just under £250 1920/1080p but unless your PC is really high end that will never be realistically reachable and get the high frames to make use of it in a lot of modern games that would actually benefit.

What size is your current screen? If it’s very small like 21.5” as was common back then, a 27” 1440p may not look much better due to similar pixel density but it will of course be bigger and the frame rate is massive. Higher framerate can be more impactful than increasing resolution for some games.

Do not waste your money on a monitor. To be blunt you have a pretty terrible PC in terms of hardware and using a monitor like that with those specs would be pointless since you wouldn’t be able to play games at that resolution without getting 25 fps

YES! ok, I didn’t see other comments about your PC specs. In the strict context of the monitor by itself, yes definitely better. But as others have mentioned, your PC specs can’t drive that monitor.

As others said upgrade pc first, but monitor isn’t that good for price imo, there was a good lg ips for around £220 during prime day earlier this month. I’d wait till black Friday for deals

Recently bought a 1440p 180hz LG monitor with an ips panel. Amazing monitor. UltraGear 27GP850 if you’re interested. Price was 280€.

Upgrading to this monitor would be pointless with that PC. Most games you’d still have to set to 1080p and probably wouldn’t get much more than 60 FPS anyway depending on the game, probably even less

I see someone already sent you a parts list for a potential pc upgrade, I think that’s a good idea. If you’re willing to go the used route, I would recommend looking into something like a used ryzen 5 3600 and a decent b450 board. That should cost less than 150 pounds, leaving the rest for a decent used gpu like a 2080 or similar. This would also allow for an upgrade to a 5800x3d later down the line to keep you gaming at a good level without having to switch platforms. Feel free to message me if you want/need more advice.

It seems a bit pricey for that class of monitor these days, and judging from everybody else’s comments it sounds like you’d be much better off upgrading your PC first anyways.
