It’s a bug.
A more hilarious interaction is if you find nibbles in the shower, turn it on and it’ll hiss and run away (you can’t see it running away though)
Because you won’t be coming back and letting him starve to death might be more cruel.
FYI – there’s a “Put down” interaction prompt on coffee table in V’s apartament (no matter if there’s cat there or no), but I have no idea what is put down.
The put down option is for items you can get by doing specific things.

I’m 90% sure this is a bug involving the Metal Pin you receive during the Songbird route.
>!If you complete the Songbird route, a few days later you get coordinates where you get the Metal Pin and the Quantum Tuner. You are supposed to be able to place the Metal Pin on the table where you’re currently getting the Put Down prompt. But if you activate the prompt before you get the Metal Pin, it permanently disables the prompt and you can’t place the Metal Pin anymore.!<
theres an egg that you can find during the heist. you can place it into the bowl. it will hatch and you will recieve another pet. be patient tho. it will take a while for it to hatch
Have you done a quest where Mitch give you a statue? Cuz it perhaps is that
