Intel has been doing this for years where we get a whole new bunch of CPUs and they’re practically identical to the previous generation. 6th and 7th gen were similar and so were 10th and 11th gen

This is the second one of these about the 14700k, you know the one with 4 extra cores.
This might apply to the 14600k and 14900k, but the 14700k is like 15-20% faster in cinebench, rendering and VM situations. Its half way between a 13700k and a 13900k for the same price as a 13700k, because it literally is physically half way between them.

I think Intel is trying to do something similar to the Skylake refreshes that were all 14 nm, but in this case, it’s 10nm.

This was pretty much the norm with Intel before AMD made a comeback with Ryzen.
Seems like they’re back at it.

Why are people making these memes with the 14700K? out of the 3 is the only one where something other than power consumption changes.

Is it the same for the 13900 and 14900?

It’s the investor generation. Just be glad you can get 13k series for cheaper now

Okay AMD, knock a 15% IPC uplift without the use of E-Cores.

No, it’s just like the dark ages before Ryzen

any other 14th gen cpu would’ve fit better here

CPU’s are trying to take a page out of the iPhones book.
Release some new model every year with minuscule performance improvements and expect people to rebuy because FOMO
It works too because you see so many PC people trash things that aren’t i9/AM5 or below a 4090 😂

Odd. I expected having 4 more eCores and higher clocks to give more oomph to the 14700K over the 13700K.
Either eCore have become a airhead gimmick or drivers/software patches are missing.

There’s nothing wrong with modest improvements ever gen–you dont have to buy the newest one each time it comes out. But the alternative is no updates on the last Gen for ages, they may as well put out the slightly better one on the shelves for nkw

I don’t even get CPU manufacturers releasing a new CPU every year, it is a waste of resources. they can just release the “x” versions of the existing CPUs as a pseudo refresh where they come with a factory overclock and since they all use the same die, maybe a few more unlocked cores. I’m guessing they’re skipping this generation to follow amd’s path with 3D cache, Intel has seen what happens when they lag behind and i don’t think they want to lose that much investor money ever again.

When ever intel is on the top.. they tend to slow down and wait for amd to catch on, like what they did from 4th gen to 9th gen, this is why i hope some day nvidia starts building cpu.. then the cpu technology will have a real start all over again.

Been waiting to replace my 3950x and was waiting on this release to make a decision. AMD retains a customer.

I thought i 7 14700k is way stronger because it has 4 more cores. Rest of 14 th geration are just overclocked 13 gen CPUs though.
