How different would BO4 zombies and Dead of the Night’s reception have been if it was a launch map like it was supposed to?

  1. If I’m not mistaken, the launch maps were meant to be:

    1) Dead of the Night (Chaos prologue)

    2) Voyage of Despair (Chaos start)

    3) Blood of the dead

    4) Classified

    So keep that in mind

I think BO4 suffers if Dead of the Night replaces IX as a launch map despite it being my favorite map from the game.

Having 3 complex maps and no simple maps, unless you fork out the money for the Black Ops Pass, would be a huge turn off for new players and for people who only play Zombies occasionally.

Even hardcore players might play less due to not having a map like IX that is fairly quick to get set up on. IX is my most played map on BO4 and it’s because I don’t always have time for the more complex maps.

As for Dead of the Night’s reputation, it’s hard to say. Ultimately, I think Voyage of Despair gets a reputation boost because it’s less complex than Blood of the Dead and Dead of Night.

Still would of had problems. Only positive is that it would’ve made the VoD outro with Bruno have more impact cause at launch we knew nothing about chaos so the twist meant nothing to us

It wouldn’t have been different. People hate Dead of the Night for the dumbest reasons and some of those reasons are exclusive to dumb people like how it’s “impossible” to open PaP without a guide.

I think it would’ve been the greatest launch map ever tbh. But then dlc 1 would’ve been IX and while there’s a lot of people who enjoy the map, I personally don’t believe IX would’ve been dlc 1 material.

Don’t most zombie players buy all the maps anyway?

IX was made for BO4’s mechanics and is an easy map.

Giving us another SOE-like complex map (which is one of my favorite maps of all time) as a starting map **AGAIN** would be an epic failure**.** People flocked to The Giant in hordes because he jumps from Origins to SoE were too long a wait and the complexity was too much, not to mention the zombies were tweaked to be far far more aggressive.

It would surely have killed the community further because BOTD and Voyage are also two fairly complex maps in themselves.

DotN story would have given the audience a fun inroad to the chaos part of Bo4. I think Bo4 and DotN were received well. I’m biased though as I grew up around mansions like that in Ireland.
It having blue screens though would have been rough. I don’t mind the timing of the release but I loved it so it’s not really me who wasn’t receptive to it.

The should’ve replaced voyage as a launch map and bo4 would’ve fared much better. Voyage is in my opinion is a d tier map.

The story would have made more sense, and Treyarch would’ve been able to hype it up at the BO4 reveal. The intro cutscene for DOTN probably wouldn’t have felt as awkward with the lack of dialogue, and the end cutscene might not look as bad. I can imagine Treyarch scrambling to redo Voyage’s cutscene as an introduction to Chaos.

With all that said, I think DOTN wouldn’t be received well because of how complex it is. Pretty frustrating that JB seemed to learn nothing from SOE.

  11. People would still hate black ops 4. This community doesn’t handle change well. While black ops 3 is seen as the best now when it first came out it wasn’t well received. It wasn’t until der eisendrache when people started liking black ops 3 and even then a lot of people still didn’t like it.

It wouldn’t have changed anything, or if anything it would have hurt. Like BO3 satisfied super hardcore fans but totally lost most of the casual players by having Shadows as the on disc map. It would have made ultra hardcore players happy, and would have been a miserable experience for casual players hoping for the next Kino or Der Reise.
