So I got 3090 about 6 months ago and wanted to check one fan as it is making weird noise.
Was not expecting this under the hood.

At least he didn’t skimp on thermal paste lol.

thermal paste on memory is quite useless, the space between the chip and the cooler is way to large.

There are two types of people. The ones that apply a pea sized drop and the ones that apply a bukkake sized drop.

Most thermal paste is non-conductive these days. As long as the die isn’t cracked you ought to be fine

You’d think someone using it to make money would be more careful with it.

I believe those memories require thermal pads or thermal putty. GPU chip itself is fine.

  7. Weird thing is a similar paste job on my Dell oem 3080 seriously cut the memory temp by 10-15c. Mind you that card leaves an airgap between the plate on the memory and the heatsink… such a stupid design.

  8. Looks like they did the copper mod for the vram. Definitely worth keeping in there since I did the same thing on my 3080 tuf and it dropped the temps 18°C.

Temps must be down to -1 Kelvin with this application 🤣

Our thermal paste comes as pre-applied pad. Ours comes in a syringe for accurate application. Screw both ya’ll, ours comes in a 32oz ketchup bottle.
