Anyone have the full video of this? Would love to hear the rest of what he has to say.

Sorry, but could you explain why this is a problem? Everything he just explained was the modern day development process. You can’t just ask for a feature and have it implemented just like that. There is a process that is involved. The dev and dev lead were just following the process.
If you say, well, for such a simple change, surely this is overkill? I’d respond and say no – his ask is oversimplified.
Ask: Character prioritizes enemy with highest cumulative damage dealt to it.
Result: 5 enemies in front of character that have 1 HP a piece and are each literally 1 hit away from all dying but so happen to have dealt a cumulative damage each that is lower than an enemy 10 miles away that is running away. Character then ignores the enemies right in front of it and chases after the enemy 10 miles away only to die to the enemies they ignored.
The fact is, development is a complicated process where one has to account for several things and test several scenarios. Just because the code is simple and easy to implement doesn’t mean it’s been thought through.
Not to mention that there are already existing things in the development pipeline that are currently being worked on which would have to be deprioritized to facilitate this request.
Not to mention the regression testing involved with scenarios that have already been tested and passed but now have to be retested because this change affects them.

this is 100% a generational issue. Gen-Z is very risk averse and terrified of doing the wrong thing or feeling awkward

This can be backed up by the fact the teams are way bigger budget way bigger but the scope/quality and content has taken a nose dive.

Not to mention unreal engine is using ai to auto create terrain then you got ai making the story and modders adding in fully voiced npc’s via ai mods.

If a mod can add a ai voiced companion then yeah yikes
