Cant wait for GTA 6 path tracing πŸ˜„

The same can be done by a really talented team with baked in occlusion lighting outside of open world games, really cool though

It doesn’t really matter as I can’t afford a card that does this anyways.

I’m a man in front of a camera with a large microphone, everything I say is worth paying attention to.

Rdr2 already did that effect without patchtracing or raytracing

  5. All this path tracing and ray tracing stuff, it all just seems to make roads shiny to me, don’t get the hype lol.

I turn it on sometimes just to see the differences. Its cool but in no way worth the performance cost.

graphics is cool and all but if you gotta accept the you’ll have low fps for awhile, but damn does it look cool.

  8. Sure, it will just take like a decade before most people can actually turn that on.

  9. Man, I can’t wait to use path tracing on my RX 6600! /s

Eh there is good and bad lighting regardless of method used. 26 second mark path traced does not look realistic at all. Why is the entire scene yellow as if I am in a low-lit room? That’s not realistic I don’t see a massive yellow lightbulb.

Cool, definitely worth losing 50% for FPS for that.

I (luckily) have a 4090 and am able to leverage path tracing in CP2077. It ABSOLUTELY makes a difference to my eyes… But… I’m not sure I like it. Since it’s actually simulating the light behaviors it leads to a lot of darker areas where I literally can’t see anything. I also play on an OLED so it’s somehow even darker then it should be. Yeah it looks more “realistic” but that doesn’t necessarily mean “better”

Don’t get me wrong though, sometimes it looks so good it blows my mind. But maybe not worth it for everyone.

Honestly when you are actually playing, having more fps is really more important, I’m sure this will become relevant when the GPUs that can run this with high fps become common and accessible.

What is the tech called that allows water and windows to reflect in real time? I was playing the new robocop demo and I noticed that the puddles reflect the buildings around them. I thought that was only possible with ray tracing but my GPU doesn’t do RTX.

  15. Graphics are incredibly realistic nowadays! All you need is a 2 thousand dollars GPU! πŸ˜ƒ

I was able to play the Phantom Liberty expansion on 1080p with pathtracing on and most settings on high, and it was like a whole different game. Truly a next gen experience.

  17. Until about mid-August I was still rocking my trusty old *GTX 1080 Ti FE* that would allow me to at least play 2-3 year old games at 4K High / Ultra for as long as I wasn’t having any ambitions regarding ***ANY*** kind of Raytracing.

Needless to say, I wasn’t exactly keen on playing any games that would have best shined with an RTX capable Card, so I pretty much stopped purchasing any games that came with such a feature.

I now have an *RTX 4090 Founders Edition* Card and with CP2077 recently having had a sale on Steam ( during 1.63 ) I decided to give it a go and yea… Seeing the occasional Game Clip Upload to YouTube on obviously Potato Quality GPUs without RT capability pretty much reaffirms my decision to abstain from attempting to play it earlier without an appropriate RTX Card.

To call it a Day and Night difference would be an unparalleled understatement and getting that RTX 4090 FE was totally worth it in terms of reinvigorating my Gaming Hobby… Graphics may not be everything but I’ll be damned shoving gorgeous new tech like out of the bed.

I’m using Path Tracing (PT) as a rendering technique in Octane when rendering out assets for film and advertising. Interesting to see gaming starting to catch up. Generally it takes at least 5min to render out a single frame. Must be super optimized to get even 1fps.

Yeah that makes more sense. Mirrors are always black, right guise?

curious what I would be subscribing for? You explaining how Jensen’s technology works to me? Or, I can just watch their announcements, lol

    fuck outta here

Man I’m sad that my 4090 is gonna struggle with GTA 6 probably
