These things always skew the numbers. Yes even AMD does this.

Videocardz: the 14900k is 2% faster on average
Wccftech: the 14900k is up to 23% faster
Idk which approach is better but I got whiplash reading these

The 7800X3D will be the proper test.

Oh wow, the new chip that isn’t out yet is faster than the old chip that is out…… More news at 11

We’ll see…
I find it pretty sus that they chose the 7950X3D as an example. It’s well known that some games use the wrong die and lose a lot of performance.
Should’ve used the 7800X3D to compare.

It’ll have a weak upgrade path, chug power, need a beefy cooler, and cost a bomb…so yeah, it better be faster.

Yeah, yeah, of course they’re gonna say that. Wait until independent benchmarks are performed.

Who ever believes the OEM? Wait for 3rd party benchmarks.
Synthwoven
Does this mean it will be priced comparably to the the 7950X3D? Because that is the subtext I interpret from choosing that product as a comparison point.
Mikeztm
Also **up to** 23% slower than 7950X3D in the same slide.
This up to make no sense and by average it’s literally the same even using their own slide.
Djghost1133
The realistic number is going to be in the low single digits.
SnuffleWumpkins
So? What’s the point of comparing two competing products from different generations? You’d think it would be more valuable to see how much of an uplift this thing has compared to a 13900k.
…. in Starfield and very little else.

Leaked geekbench results are showing an improvement of around ~9%

But will it light my room on fire? The 7950X3D already has benchmarks showing it uses half the power of the 13900ks when gaming.
As per usual, wait for Gamer Jesus to do a review before buying anything.

If we count the 23% in Metro exodus
Can we also say the the I9 14900k is 23% Worse than the 7950X because of Dota?

How they avoid choosing the 7800X3D as its competitor speaks volumes.

I mean it’s the newest generation, I sure hope it’s a little faster. Just wait until AMD comes with their counter
Boring_Try3514
9% is respectable. It’s the same as a 13900 without any crazy new layout or pins right? 9% uplift on just optimized fabrication/production is to be praised. Probably not a lot left on the table for the serial overclockers to play with.
I’m tickled pink with my 7900x. It’s snappy as hell, stupid big files/workloads just get mowed down with it. ACAD files that would turn my laptop inside out, it just breezes thru them like opening a text document. Wish ACAD would utilize multicore better, still boosting to 5.6xx ghz gets shit done.

Doesn’t matter until it’s corroborated by multiple third party benchmarks.
And even if it’s false it doesn’t matter because Intel wins the mindshare war and people will buy Intel thinking it’s faster anyway.

Is this likely the last top of the line processor for the 1700 socket?
You can always check hardware performance close to its launch date by checking popular benchmark databases, like R23 for CPUs. I also use Blender Open Data to check on GPUs before their release. You can always find some results because reviewers and other people who get early access need test them.
