Computer wouldn’t boot into windows or a windows boot drive, boot into bios just fine fans weren’t running accept for one. Took the CPU apart again (didn’t glue the IHS on) some of the thermal paste was on the ceramic caps alongside the CPU die. Remove the paste cover the caps with masking tape applied paste, turn on PC, PC did an auto repair and then boot into windows. Now playing GTA online.

you’re lucky because you cracked the cpu die.
You really shouldn’t have used masking tape.
This was a job for kapton tape.
Bro cracked the CPU die and it’s still working somehow
Why not go with liquid metal? Its worked for me, going on 3 years.
Come on you chipped the die even with a non soldered ihs😂
You are one LUCKY ass shank. Dug at it with a knife, did some damage to the PCB, cracked the die… and it still fucking works. Ever considered playing the lottery?
I remember I had my 7700k and it ran sooo hot then derbauer released his delidding tool and the rest was history. I was shitting myself and I had the tool lol
If you still have the same CPU as the one in your flair, i’d just get a new cpu.
Know what, had this same problem, but different solution; I had slow mode on the motherboard. If one of your fans aren’t turning it sounds like a voltage problem to the motherboard?
I was saying try liquid metal instead of paste, when you said it would definitly kill your cpu, i was asking why it would kill it?
Ya, thats why people like to put a coat of nail polish on them incase it spills.I put a coat on, let it dry overnight and then put on another coat, it was overkill but it gave me peace of mind.
yeh, don’t do this with a freaking box cutter… Its too regid and too thick and has a sharp edge by design.
I heared dental floss works wonders with deliding. (atleast if its a glued IHS)
Well done. That’s some nerve wracking shit.
This is the computer equivalent of whacking a faulty starter motor with a hammer/wrench to get it to start one last time
