Don’t forget that there’s only 2 RAM slots on the motherboard as well, along with subpar cooling for an i9 13900kf. I can only imagine what the benchmark score of this would be compared to a custom built PC.
Alienware is where to go if you want to pay for an i9 that performs like an i7.

Man I remember when I was like 12-13 thinking Alienware computers were the cream of the crop.
Have they always been like this? Underwhelming performance for a ridiculous price?

if only their monitor department ran the rest of the company. Also as someone who is a sys admin, their entire software team can just get fired lmao.

Why we don’t buy prebuilt

Could be an Apple computer and charge you $750 to upgrade to soldered 32GB ram…

Before I read the ram slot part of the post, I had already imagined that they also skimped out on the chip set and or mainboard itself.

i feel like if you’re willing to drop 4k on a computer, you should probably be willing to diy

As someone still running 2666 MHz ram what’s the issue

Dell, lol.

My dell optiplex 5040 that i put a gtx 1650 in has a DDR3 1600 motherboard only with an i7 6700 DDR4 cpu. I dont know what it is with dell and ram but they have done this forever. Its kind of comical.

Serious question though – I have 32gb 4800 mhz ram in my PC. Would I see a big performance increase if I got faster ram? Also running a 12700-K and a 4090

Yeah, somebody at Dell need they ass beat.
I’m talking about a good, old-fashioned ass-whipping….. with a sturdy leather belt. I feel it’s only then the proper attention to detail will be paid when people are asked to spend this much on a system.
And I’m not even joking. For too long Dell has been allowed to get away with this bullshit.

I mean, it’s the most reliable, and the performance loss costs them less than the customer support for issues with higher frequencies. GG Dell.

jesus….my $2100 custom built(yes I sourced the parts and built it myself) has 5600mhz(cl-36) ram, and can run circles around that geriatric emphysema of a rig.

TBF I see 2 ram slots as a benefit rather than a detriment. Wish more mobos did that.

You can overclock the ram and change it, I now run 6000mhz ram with no issues. It can also go up to 64gb not that bad.
Upgraded the ssd to a 990pro, and that prebuilt fly now (got the 4080 model at a ridiculous price error in Canada for only 1300$ cad for the entire pc, basicly the price of a 4080 in canada normally)

It’s crazy that Alienware manages to botch their computers with cheap parts like RAM. RAM is one of the few parts that show up in the case and are lit up with cool effects, they have like the cheapest shit ever in there.
