The difference is barely noticeable. Amazing honestly.

I can’t say that this game even at max settings looks amazing
FaithlessnessOld7089
I’m replaying HL2 rn and I’m amazed that an old game can still look so good. The planar-reflected water looks amazing and beats the shit out of the best Bethesda can manage 20 years later. The lack of SSAO lets it down though. There is no substitute for artistry.
If I’m honest you didn’t pick the best game to show the difference between low and ultra.
Revolutionary_Part_7
As always it depends on the game and low settings not being much different from ultra settings which consequently not having much of a performance difference is not a good thing.
HelloHash
looks okay…
builder397
Forza is a rare gem in this regard.
Starfield looks shit even on high settings, and runs like shit on all settings.
Most games start to look like everything is sculpted from dry mud on low settings.
duk-er-us
What game is this? The Ultra w/ RT looks extremely meh
Mercinator-87
My phones resolution stays the same for all four? Post is broken.
EmrakulAeons
Just saying that many ultra settings aren’t very noticeable in a screen shot, more so during motion / gameplay, and this almost doesn’t include compression etc.
JozieKS
That’s the thing of pc gaming we save for a gpu till then lower settings and press on
N7Longhorn
You’re not going to get the graphics whores to agree with you. They’ll notice and complain if a hair is out of place
eestionreddit
tbf performance rt on xbox is closer to low than ultra and looks nice
Preeminator
You should take a look at Fortnite. The low vs ray traced quality difference is night and day. Really goes to show how scalable Unreal Engine 5 is. Can’t wait for the next Witcher and Cyberpunk games which will both be powered by Unreal 5.
sharak_214
Unreal games definitely look bad unless you have everything turned on.

Some ultra settings are nice, but ultra preset is definitely dumb.
Every game has usually at least a few settings that can be turned down to High/Medium/Low and one would have a really hard time trying to actually point out the difference.
Blindly picking the ultra preset makes no sense to me.
Stargov1
Graphics peaked in like 2014. Not that it’s been worse since, but it’s Plateaued more than anything. There aren’t really any big generational leaps anymore. Maybe I just stopped caring, which, honestly, I’m completely fine with. If more games put more time into their sytems than their looks, we’d just have better games.
Goshenta
I try to remind my friends of this all the time. If a new game comes out that you suddenly can’t play on Ultra and have to “lower” your settings, this doesn’t mean your overall quality of graphics has gone down. It just means the bar has risen. As it should over time. I’ve convinced many a friend off unnecessary early upgrades this way. Save up, get something that’s a huge leap forward and appreciate what you have. Don’t pay attention to the sliders.
alaingames
Literally no difference lol
Snoo_12752
Nope. Ultra or go home.
IceColdCorundum
SOME do. All depends on the graphics engine. You seen black ops 3 on potato mode?
Pumciusz
If the texture popping is way worse on low then I think that alone is worth it playing on higher settings. But yeah, the low looks alright, but ultra doesn’t wow me in any way. Grass was better in Witcher 3.
Ronyx2021
The greens look darker on low?
koordy
Yeah sure, now do the same with Cyberpunk.
This game is ugly even on max settings.
SaerVerth
I wouldn’t know, I’m never lower than Max lol
Nice to know they would still look good if I was broke
Noxious89123
The graphics in the screenshot you shared are not at all impressive.
The draw distance is complete ass, look how low res the textures are on the bridge over the track.
On the whole, it doesn’t look *bad*. But this is a terrible game for demonstrating “impressive” graphics. It doesn’t really have a peoper RT implementation wither.
mrkoala1234
Ultra setting has additional benefits when compared to low setting. Bragging rights.
RevolutionarySeven7
i had a colleague come visit me while i was playing cyberpunk 2077 on my laptop (he has it too on his high end rig)
I quote his words: “damn, those ray tracing graphics always look amazing in cyberpunk!”
me: ” you do know i’m playing on a 1050ti at lowest settings right?!”
him: *jaw drops
BlueGeni
Lowest settings? No I can’t agree with that but I can say Medium settings do look good enough to me.
qwertyalp1020
According to Digital Foundry, changing graphics settings on the fly, and without restarting the game kinda breaks ray tracing so if you didn’t restart the game the comparison shots are kinda invalid.
DarkerMisterMagik669
Yeah and performance still takes that hit for even running on low settings so it a catch either way.
30-percentnotbanana
It’s more an issue of developers not including a proper low setting. There aren’t separate low poly assets and textures the same way there used to be.
Scoopzyy
I’ve never been a “visual” guy, much rather play on lower settings w/ higher framerate. Not rich enough to have both lol
Elliove
This is misinformation. RT shadows make quite a difference in the game, but you need daytime to see it.
GloriousStone
this game looks like its on low settings while on ultra not the other way lol.
Go compare cyberpunk
Banzai262
I play bf2042 on low so I can get the most fps possible, but even on low, it looks pretty fucking good
funnystunt
I’m playing forza5 on my steam deck on low.
Looks just about the same on my pc on 1440p. I do get more fps and g-sync though, so feels better.
Mm11vV
The graphics look worse than the previous forza motorsport.
