Won’t be just dust, but the smoke you breathe out and the pc sucks in as second hand smoke, picks up dust in the air or just settles on components in the case. It ends up just like earwax… kinda works like those fly catching sticky traps.
Should be used in quit smoking campaigns…. If not for your own health, quit for the health of your PC. Hideous mess to clean.
Solution ? Quit smoking today and treat yourself to a new PC and a healthy new life.

Its dusty as hell but I doubt that’s the cause for the slowness. Its running a platter drive and like 2gb or 4gb of RAM…maybe DDR2 but probably DDR3….and most likely a mid 2000’s CPU. Who knows what version of windows….and it probably has a super old network chip that bottlenecks whatever cheapest “oMg WiFi” internet service she is running.
Be a good son-in-law and throw it out for her. Help her build something made in the last decade that will work a little bit better.

I can taste the dust from this pc. I used to clean out my in-laws PCs every so often. Glad to help but absolutely foul nicotine/tar encrusted dust.

I smoke and my computers never had any problems with grime or excessive dust. I mostly have an open case as well. This is not a smoking problem but a heavily dusty and moist environment.
