Hello SureAreHardLuke, and thank you for your submission to Gaming PC! If you are new please check out our rules over at the wiki [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/gamingpc/wiki/rules)!
We have recently added the useful feature of Title Flair! You can set this manually by clicking Flair under your post once you have submitted your post, but if you missed it in the rules there is a much better way that will automatically flair your post!
To do this simply add what your post is about in brackets before your title. For example for a Build Log you can type [Build Log] before your post so that it looks like this; [Build Log]My new awesome build!, and the bot will automatically set your flair to Build Log! This works for Build Log, Build Showcase, News, Hardware News, Hardware Release, Discussion, and Miscellaneous!
Also remember that this is a place for discussing and sharing our love of Gaming Computers! This is NOT the place for help building or determining what parts you should buy, that is better suited for /r/buildapc. Troubleshooting questions should be directed to /r/techsupport. Thank you again!

Cpu will be the bottleneck

That CPU is so old it can almost drink. Also 16gigs of ram might be rough depending on the game.

Honestly, it’s more than likely your CPU that’s holding you back in CS2. While it is a much less CPU intensive game compared to CS:GO it still requires CPU horsepower. My buddy has a 1080 and runs the game quite well but it’s paired w a Ryzen 5600X.
If it’s within your budget i’d grab a new CPU, mobo, and possibly memory. You can pick up a 5600X and a mobo for around $300, a new kit of 16gb 3600mhz DDR4 memory will run you around 50ish bucks.
It would also make sense to build a whole new PC at this point as this rig is 7+ years old. You could sell this thing realistically on FB marketplace for around $300.

My friend has a 1080 and can rust CS2 just fine. Upgrade that CPU.
I’m actually gunna be upgrading from my 9700k in about a month if Intel releases the 14th gen. I used my 9700k with my old 1080 some years back. If you’re cool with used then I can help you out given some time. 🙂

It shouldn’t struggle with a 1080 and a 6700k, maybe theres a problem with your game or a virus may be affecting your performance.

Got rx 6700xt ryzen 5 5600x got 70-200fps.
Cs2 is broken. Used to have 399fps capped, uncapped 350-600fps. Waiting for updates. Poorly optimized dog shite

Yeah… for once in my life I have to say it’s the CPU that’s going to be the major problem. I know from experience. I got a 3080ti but I am still using my I7 7700k. My CPU is dramatically holding me back in several titles.

You definitely want to upgrade your cpu before you upgrade gpu
