They don’t deserve it at all. Do I love the game? Absolutely! Did they….for the most part give us what they promised and showed? Yes.
But let’s not forget the horrendous release, the promises, the failed console ports and more.
They did what was expected of them because if they didn’t they would have lost good faith and been sued into the grown beyond what they were already sued for.
Again I love where the game is now. Butt they sure as hell don’t deserve that reward/title.
TerminalThiccness
I love the game but it was a labor of “oh shit we don’t have a game release for another 5 years so we absolutely fucking HAVE to fix this somehow” when they won that award. Not love.
Also, Edgerunners did a lot of heavy lifting.

Back in 2022 they didn’t deserve it at all tbh, it won because of the anime hype, compared to the updates that the other nominated games got, cyberpunk did nothing big.
Ok_Fish285
This game was a dogshit buggy mess made, even a year in
LeviathanLX
Back when?
winterman99
Deeprock have a shit tone more love put into it than any other game on that list.
The__Anon
I thought you were saying they deserved it over terraria😂 I almost turned red until I remembered they won that in 2021. I never even knew that cyberpunk won one.
TheTwinFangs
They didn’t even deserved to be nominated at the time of release.
No, asking Trigger to do an anime isn’t really love.
No man Sky and Deep Rock deserved it a hundred times more and actually put a lot of wirk and love unto their game.
Even today with 2.0, i’d put my vote on them
BurritoReproductions
Fuck that. Tru 2022 labour of love was Zomboid. Ride or die

People got SO mad at this award, even tho the whole thing is just a popularity contest
Puzzled_Entry_3555
No I don’t think they do. I own the game and DLC and they half assed so many things.
Vidistis
They absolutely did not deserve to win back then. Until 2.0 and Phantom Liberty not much had really been done, primarily bug fixing and some QoL features. The game had lots of fundemental design issues. Does the game deserve it now? I think so, or at least it would have been a strong contender.

No not at all…it won because it was popular…games like DRG were robbed off of it and I can’t think of any way how CP2077 which they were fixing after 2 years of development was more a labor of love than DRG a polished super fun indie game.
Yea there was passion involved and I love the game to death but that’s the least they could’ve done DRG was just a super great game that released in a super well state…
I cannot in any way warrant CP winning the award last year…heck they wouldn’t even win if edgerunners didn’t release…so it’s more on that than the game itself.
Zatex001
Zomboid should had the award and I will fight on this hill
Injustice_For_All_
Deep Rock Galactic deserved it. Fixing a broken game you released isn’t showing love to the community; it’s doing the bare minimum
xiDeliriouSx
Nope they don’t lmao if it was a labour of love it would be buggy even post 2.0
Echo_Abendstern
I mean we’re finally getting a DLC because they released the game two years early. It’s not a labor of love: it’s an act of desperation to make CD Projekt not look terrible. I say this as someone who waited almost a year to play it after it was released and did just about everything you could.
