it is straight up the best looking game ever with (or even without in my opinion) path tracing. just might be why

and yet my nvidia 3080 is only getting 8% usage playing cyberpunk with brand new drivers for no apparent reason what so ever …

I love it. I’d rather they use a game that I love than a game I don’t care about.
Also this partnership is likely going to continue into CDPRs future games, which makes me excited

Nvidia clearly partners very closely with CDPR (I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re outright co-developing bespoke product code for the game) and the results are obviously good for everyone immediately involved — Nvidia gets a real-world showcase for their latest and greatest that gets far more coverage and usage than a lame tech demo, CDPR gets best-in-class graphics, and players get to see their fancy hardware used efficiently and pushed near its limits.
The only potential “hmm” is how it’d be perceived by other developers trying to break in and wishing they had deeper support. I don’t think it approaches anything even remotely worthy of an “anti-competitive” label, but I can imagine being really frustrated waiting for tier 2 Nvidia developer support to look at my issue while “the chosen ones” get white glove treatment. Not really any great fix for that, though, and the win for everyone else seems a lot bigger.

I agree tho, and it’s a bit wierd. Cyberpunk 2077 has every graphic tech one can think of, but Starfield doesn’t even have screen space reflections xD

I mean it’s the best looking game out there, there isn’t a single game on the market today that reaches the same visual caliber so yes it’s the right choice.
