I may be way out of the loop here, I’ve only been playing MW2 occasionally, but what did I miss that allows for infinity ward to have a zombies mode in their COD?

I saw this trailer for MW3 Zombies and was honestly shocked, since I remember treyarch having exclusive rights to zombies since WaW, and to be honest, I had assumed all this time that their exclusive rights to zombies is what basically kept Treyarch afloat since black ops.

Is this a recent development or have I been under a rock? And if this is recent, will Treyarch still be involved in call of duty at all?

Sledgehammer is working on MW3 alongside Infinity Ward, but it’s gonna be Treyarch that does the zombies mode, which is basically Outbreak but mostly DMZ.

Yes, of course, I remember Treyarch’s games of Ghosts, Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and WWII.

treyarch never had “exclusive rights” to zombies.

it was just that treyarch had zombies mode while the other ones didn’t. then advanced warfare, infinite warfare, ww2, etc had zombies

Isn’t IW and AW non treyarch games? It has zombies

Ghosts, WW2, Infinite Warfare, Advanced Warfare, any of these games ring a bell to you?

“Allowed”? All the developers are owned by Activision, they’re allowed to do whatever they want. If shareholders want MWIII to have zombies, it will have zombies.

This is kinda wrong in two ways, like 1) Treyarch is making this mode for MW3 and 2) Treyarch isn’t the only dev who’s made zombies, AW, IW, WW2, (and ghosts kinda) all have zombies modes made by different teams
