It actually makes sense because it makes team wipes less impossible in the early game.

The match is coming to an end so it’s not “ridiculous”, especially when you consider the amount of things your teammates can do to reduce the timer (headshots, breaking armor, downing a player, finishing a player, opening loot boxes or just moving around) if it takes the full 40+ seconds to respawn your teammates just sitting in a corner doing nothing is a bigger issue than the timer length
