Massive corporations exploiting workers.
A government and police force that oppresses, imprison or executes people who challenge them or do something they don’t like.
Forced labour prison camps.
Its terrifying and they are going to be the cause and the bad guy in the next world war
However you define it, it’s an enormous city. If you count the whole area which the government calls the metropolitan area of Chongqing then it’s easily the biggest city in the world with a population in excess of 40 million but an area the sjze of Austria. Realistically the metro population is ‘only’ about 15 million and covers the area of a normal big ass city. Either way this is a huge city. I believe China has something like 100 cities with a population of >1 million. Nuts.
