Not my picture (used it for reference of what I want my setup to look similar to.) I will be mounting the monitors to the wall, I’ll have a boom arm attached to the desk, an audio interface and just a mouse, keyboard and my PC probably on the ground, so I really would barely have any weight on the Karlby if I were to get it. I don’t like how it’s not all real wood though.

Thanks for the motivation. I am going for exactly this setup without a third monitor. Looks great. One question.. How do you’ve the PS4 setup?

One is particleboard one is wood. If longevity is your goal this is a no brainer…

I hear karlby sags because of lack of support in the middle. Wall mounted monitors would help reduce the weight on the desk so that’s great. If your rig will be on the floor or just elsewhere from on top the desk, then maybe karlby would be fine.
Once i read the contents of ikea counter tops, I went with unfinished butcher block. It’s not budget friendly. Finished block is pricey. Unfinished block needs prep and a lil tlc. You need 48 hrs at your disposal to finish the wood after unwrapping. I still have some work to do on it, so I can’t exactly show my progress.
Overall though, I say if you have the money, butcher block is the way to go. Stronger, more appealing, and will last longer. If working with a budget, kalrby with center support should ge okay.

I just made a desk and was in this same predicament. It comes down to what your options are. At a flooring place near me, I was able to get a butchers block 60×30 for a little over 100$. It was unfinished but I liked that because I got to pick my own stain and finish. It ended up cheaper than the karlby and a million times better in my opinion.

The sag on the karlby can be solved with 2 angle irons mounted to the bottom. I didn’t want to see any supports in the middle. I’ve had the 90” Karlby as my desk for a couple of years and no sag so far.
