[Since this is a clip from a longer video I thought I’d add a bit more context for my argument here in the comments] So what I’m trying to say here is that time and time again I see the argument that ‘the round based formula is stale and dead and more players want outbreak than rbz’ based on the statistics from one of treyarch’s blog posts saying there is a 50/50 split of players between the modes, BUT this doesn’t take into account the many factors that swayed that stat into outbreaks favor. It was brand new at the time with the blogpost being made right after the modes release, it was something new people wanted to try for the first time to see if they’d even like it, and when compared against the two worst maps in cold war that were out at the time (Die Machine and FBZ) it’s obvious that there would be people wanting to play outbreak instead at that time. However people just tend to gloss over these elements and say RBZ is dead and that outbreak is the way the mode should be moving forward based on this statistic, but with the factors I listed taken into account I just think that argument is incredibly flawed.
So basically if when outbreak first came there was a 50/50 split in a game where there were only 2 basic RBZ maps out at the time of the stat, I believe if they instead gave us round based maps of the quality we had in the past that number would not be in outbreak’s favor. The RBZ formula is not stale, they just messed with the formula in recent years and ended up removing some key elements that made the RBZ maps special (no crew, progression changes, mp/campaign style map design, etc…)

Doesn’t even mention the biggest reason which is the fact that it just happened to be the fastest weapon XP and aetherium crystal farm in the game. You kind of needed to play it if you wanted to get your weapons ranked up quick for the camo grind, Warzone/MP, or if you wanted all the OP shit for round based.
